Im currently in high school and hunting is my life. My mom supports me in everything i do and my passion of hunting. I wear camo clothing to school because i feel it completes me and its just something i do. Now, im not in full camo clothing or wearing it every day of the week, but my mom still gives me a hard time about it. What do you think? She says theres a time and a place for it and school is not one of them? Just curious on another parents opinion? Thanks!

Nothing screams white trash like wearing hunting camo/clothing in non hunting situations.

    Glad I could help.

I would not be very excited about my boys wearing camo to school. I am with your mother on this issue. You have your entire life to hunt, make sure you focus on school now so you can afford to enjoy hunting later.

Camo is a tool not a fashion statement. Your mothers right in this and even if she wasnt you should still listen to her as she is your mother.....I always wanted to say that.

    Yeah. This.

I know you're in HS, but at some point in your life, you will realize it is important to wear the appropriate attire in the appropriate situations.

One of my pet peeves in life is people wearing clothing not appropriate to the situation. I know I shouldn't care, but dammit, I do.

I don't wear camo outside of hunting for 3 reasons:

    1. Scent. I try and keep all my hunting gear away from as much human world scent as possible (gas, food, etc.)
    2. Game Time. Like facepaint, when I put my camo on it's game time. Helps me get more pumped for the hunt.

Do they really need the Mountain hardware and mountaineering boots at the super market? I know it freaking January but the last I noticed I didn't see a glaciers to climb in the parking lots.

What if that someone is coming from the mountain?

But I get what you are saying. Although Mountain Hardware (and many other outdoor brands) are now making clothing that really isn't designed for extreme outdoor conditions. I'm wearing a Patagonia vest as I type this, but it is just fleece. Not exactly any real highly technical or weather resistant fabric designed for extreme conditions.

I was in Target with my wife and daughter yesterday and a guy was walking around in full camo. They both looked at me and said they were glad I didnt do that. Like every one has said, there is a time and a place for it and school's not it.

I wear camo outside of hunting. My ball cap is realtree, I have a Slippery Rock University under armer camo tee, shirts with camo long sleeves., ext. I do not wear my hunting gear tho. White trash? No. Not at all. Everyone has there own opinion and I happen to like camo. Shows who I am, and what im about. Its no different than someone wearing a hockey jersey or football jersey. It shows what they like. Quit judging.

Did anyone else start singing along to Brad Paisley's song "Camoflage", when reading this thread?

If it what you like then go for it. Who cares what others think. As long as its not causing a bad fight with your mom.

Grown men should not wear jerseys, BUT if they were to wear jerseys, the only acceptable place would be to the game.

    I'll continue judging.

Yeah, quit judging. Wear full out hunting gear and ALL camo is a little over the top. I have a camo sweatshirt, camo ball caps, a camo zip up fleece that I DON'T wear to hunt, but I will throw on my sweatshirt with some jeans and boots in the winter, or in the summer I'll pull my hair up and wear my ball cap. Does it make me white trash? I'm FAR from white trash.

Do I want my boys to wear camo from head to toe every day of their lives? No. Do I mind if they wear a camo tshirt, sweatshirt, ball cap? No. Would I be preturbed if they wanted to wear camo pants? Probably a little.

You men are quicker to judge than women.
