People get better at things when they actually do them. For archers, getting better at killing means you have to kill things. In my opinion, too many archers these days pass way too many animals in their developmental stage as they hold off for huge bucks. To become proficient at killing and understanding how you respond under intense pressure, you have to actually shoot deer, many times over.

I fully agree with this. Experience in actually closing the deal is the biggest thing. I used to duck hunt a lot when I was younger, and that experience made fun deer hunting at the time SO much easier. I never missed a shot. I got away from hunting ducks for like 10 years, and would get really bad deer fever anytime I saw a deer. Now with a bow, until I get that first kill, anytime I see something I'm shaking like crazy. I imagine, much like before, the more times I kill something, the more calm I'll be.

Patience gets my vote, which could encompass a lot. In our world of instant gratification, a lot of people don't have the desire or dedication to put in the time hunting takes. It's something I struggle with from time to time also. All the videos on the internet make it look easier than it is and you don't see the 4, 6, 8, or 10 hours of sitting with nothing happening. Hunting is hard, bow hunting is even harder. Just my 2 cents anyway.

Some people lose their minds when they see an antlered deer, some people never get over it.

Time slinging arrows. Even with good intentions I never practice as much as I'd like.

What causes the most trouble for me as an archer are poachers, thief's, trespassers, and every other archers corn pile.

I voted poor shooting form , which is primarily due to an improperly set up bow....

The unfounded need to live up to others standards. So many TV shows and magazines out there touting big bucks that I think too many forget to relax and hunt and have fun.

Finding quality deer hunting land! All the other stuff mentioned can be pretty easily corrected.

My biggest struggles as an archer is rushing the shot and tinkering when tinkering isn't needed. I have spent hours making adjustments only to end up putting it back to where it was in the first place.

Being able to hold it together (mentally) when you get your shot and sealing the deal.

Let me know when you are contributing to the site again instead of laying in the weeds only coming out when you have something negative to say.

Oh and least it wasn't a little finger post.

^THIS^ actually has helped me the most. The more deer I have killed, the better I have become at knowing how to go about executing the shot when that moment arrives. Yes, the unexpected can always occur, but when you are killing deer or any legal animal on a regular basis, things seem to go smoother. I have also learned that the longer I go between kills, the little things that can trip you up seem to rear their ugly head. I know that many of us don't have opportunities to kill a deer on a regular basis. However, when I have the chance to shoot a fox or ground hog, I do it. I feel it keeps me sharp. I also think it is a HUGE advantage to a bow hunter when he or she can hunt various animals with a bow. Be it turkey hunting, hog hunting or whatever; I think it is Very Beneficial, to a bow hunter to do so. The more you experience you get Setting Up and Executing a bow kill, the better you will be at it.
