Who's going out tomorrow? Single digit windchills, and highs near or just above freezing. Hopefully a coating of snow but not counting on it here. I'll be out but dressed for the occasion his time. First arctic blast with rut kicking in high gear.
I'm taking a break from hunting today thru Weds. I need time to catch up on work, sleep, and family stuff before another 4 day hurrah from Thurs to Sun. If you're going out make sure you dress warm and shoot straight!
Been seeing alot more activity this past week or so. I saw some couple smaller bucks chasing Sunday morning and my cams showed so daylight activity starting. We've also seen some in the morning cruising around goin to work so its picking up. After tomorrow I'll be hitting it hard until shotgun sesson.
It's crazy out here guys there were 3 mature bucks on 1 doe!!! This week should be full of bbd posts!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just got back from work here in NC. My flight heads back to IL at 8:30 tomorrow morning. Can't wait to be back in the stand tomorrow afternoon!
New here so take it easy on me! I will say last Thursday for me was the best day so far this season. Went to a new part of the farm I hunt and sat up a climber just to see what the deer on this side were doing. I seen 3 bucks and 9 does, and the bucks just kept getting bigger! The best one which was a 140 ish 8 was a stud! he pushed a doe right to me and she stopped 5 yds behind me. He made a scrape at 40 yds thru brush under a cedar and I figured it was game on!! well he won! instead of following the doe right to me he left her and skirted in front of me about 50yds in the timber and gave me no shot! I waited till he was walking away and grunted/snort wheezed at him and he didn't even look! This is the one time I wish I would have had a decoy out and he might have walked right to me... I sat all day Sunday to only see 3 does and a spike! not sure what the deal was yesterday. I say this cold front should kick them into high gear.. if not then I'm dumb founded!
Snowing here as well, right now it's accumulating on elevated surfaces and coating the grass. 33 degrees so hopefully we can overachieve and have a good half inch in the morning. Nothing opens the woods up like a good layer of white, love the first snow sit. Only wish it was during the sit itself.
I got home from IL on the 8th. I knew I was early but I went when I could. One of these years I'll hit it when its right! Grrr Good luck boys!
I'll be back in the stand Thursday-Sunday then only 1 more afternoon sit before the gun season. This has been by far my worst season ever. A streak of 12 straight years of tagging an archery deer is getting close to crunch time. Trail cams have yet to show a shooter, although I did see 1 from the stand, and no rutting activity to speak of so far.
Best rutting activity ive seen up here in southern wisconsin was yesterday. Hang in there and hunt hard, best could still be coming!
I haven't been seeing too much. A lot of smaller bucks responding to calling, pushing does around. Yet to see a true shooter during daytime.
Anyone make it out there today? Maybe the next two fair weather days will be active. Seems every year I see a lot of the cruising on warmer days. Typical IL weather so can't really go by that.
I was out this morning and saw 7 does and two little bucks. So far tonight I've only seen a little 4-pointer. I know there's a shooter locked down with a doe in my area right now too. It was pretty damn chilly this morning.
The bucks are still up on there feat but they are starting to get locked up with does, but for the most part they are still chasing like crazy here Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'll be on vacation, hunting from this Saturday for 6 days, then go right into the gun season. Some crazy weather coming but I'm not really excited about the forecasted high winds next week
