So i was hunting the other day and a 8 point came out.I let him get to about 20 yards where i had a clear shot.I shot and heard the arrow hit.The arrow i could see was towards the front and a little high sticking out of him.The deer bolted and dissapeared.we waited over an hour and went to look. No arrow or blood. What do you all think happened? Thanks
how many pounds were you pulling back my dad did the same thing but it turned out to pile straight through the shoulder and hit the heart but he found blood right away and the deer 20 yards from that
Ok first off how many days ago? 55 pounds with a 2 blade rage at 20 yards should still be a fatal shot. How high in the tree? How high was the arrow? and how far could you see him after the shot?
2 days ago and 16 foot laddar stand. the arrow was about 3 inches high and about 100 yards then he dissapeared..
also it looked like the arrow was in the deer about 4 or 5 inches. and as soon as i shot he sprinted with his tail tucked between his legs.
Two days ago if he's dead the birds should have found him. Keep looking in the direction he headed do a grid search. It sounds like a single lung hit but with a rage he might be dead.
Yeah i mean i was hunting with a friend and he saw me shot the deer and we both thought the shot looked good just a little high and the arrow wasnt in very far. but no blood or arrow and ive been looking for birds but i havent seen any .
Good luck! shake it off and get rigth back in there! I Lost one this year, tore me up for days, then shot a lil buck and got my confidence back.
Try a concentric search or a grid search. Concentric - start at the exact point where you last saw the deer, and walk in growing circles (a spiral). Its a good way to search without the help of friends. If you have friends, start a grid search. Don't just let him go and assume its ok. Also, as seen on this forum and on TV, check any ponds/lakes/streams in your area,
well i have some pretty good news.I was watching deer from my house at my feeders. all of a sudden my dad said "Ryan is that the deer you shot?" i looked and sure enough there he was. he had a limp but he looked fine other than that. Thanks for all the help. Im at least a little bit happy that the deer isnt dead somewhere being wasted at least know i know he is alive and i might get another chance.
