As far as I know its illegal in MN to shoot anything that expands over 2" so they are kind of a lost cause for me.

they are a fixed blade. they dont expand. the blades separate to allow better penetration but they are 7/8's and expand slightly.

Seems like a good Idea and should deliver good blood as well. I'm not sure how it would fly but you cant knock it if you don't give it a shot. My only concern would be how it would do on a deer as far as penetration. I would think it would hang up especially on bone but I'm not very sure.

Same here. I am currently using the 3 blade bloodrunner so this test got my attention. I found a 3 pack on ebay for $28.99 shipped so I ordered some. Will make some gelatin this weekend and try a test early next week. I'm ever the skeptic but willing to try it based on this.

If anything, these definitely look like a great broadhead for turkey!

I watched a video on them. They shot it into a target and had to replace the blades.

I said this on another thread; but while I am intrigued, I would think that if this design was so good how come no one already thought of it?

And while I get it has 'over 5" of cutting surface;' it's concentrated within a 7/8" diameter ring; so wouldn't you really just be cutting the same tissues multiple times in a very small cross section?

Any 1 3/4" broadhead has literally 2 times the overall cutting diameter than the Toxic. To me, that would seem to be offer a much better chance of hitting multiple veins/arteries and thereby more likely causing more significant traumatic tissue damage.

I'm not ruling them out - just saying I will have to see this season's results on deer.

When i talked to the guys at my local bow shop, they said they are new on the market and have not really got much feedback on them yet. They look pretty wicked. It seems like it is almost cutting a circle into the deer. If it works as good as it looks then maybe its worth it. I am not sure how they would fly though.

Would you rather cut slits or core out a chunk of deer. Much harder to close than slits and it will gush blood

I haven't hunted with them, but I have seen at least one reviewer on another site say they whistle. Given the fact that different bows will produce different flight characteristics, that may be subjective. As for the claim of more than 5 inch of cutting surface, I think that's a little misleading. There may be 5in of cutting surface, but a lot of that is inside the wound channel. It won't really contribute much in terms of blood trail. The other problem I can see is that you're going to need more KE/momentum to get pass through. Not saying it won't pass through, just that it's going to take more energy. That being said, I think the biggest benefit is going to be the fact that a cored wound is less likely to close up quickly than a traditional broadhead.

It looks very much like a head that was produced in the 1970's called the serpentine made by Browning I think. I remember the advertisement showed an apple with a hole cut through it. They never impressed me much then and neither do these. When will people learn, you can't buy success,,,,, you earn it.

I'd rather hit a major vein or artery. Once an artery is severed, it's severed. Doesn't matter if the same artery is cut in half 2 times in a 7/8" span. You still have to put the arrow head in the right spot, right? Until I see video showing me these things are legit (turkeys don't count) ; I'll choose something with a 1.75-2" wide cutting diameter every time, DOUBLING my overall chance of hitting said arteries.

(and yes, I've seen some of the hog vids too. Wasn't impressed.)

I should have a pack of these this weekend. I am going to be thawing out some beaver that I froze whole to use for bear bait so I think I may have to test them on one of the bigger ones to see how it does through a thick skin. I'll take some photos.
