Here is a buck that I got on camera this year. How old do you guys think he is? Do you think he has any potential?

    I purposely left my opinions out to see what you guys think. Last two pics were from the last pull I had of him in July/August sometime. SUNP0061 - Copy (2).jpg SUNP0068 - Copy.jpg SUNP0237 - Copy.jpg SUNP0841 - Copy.jpg SUNP0850 - Copy.jpg

If you could, I would pass and harvest a doe, if that deer continues to grow the rack he has now he would be a monster! But if he makes you happy than by all means let one fly

The camera is in tough shape and resets the date to 2005 every time you take bateries out and I know soon the camera is gonna blow up so I didn't wanna risk re setting it. The pic was take this year. I have no problem passing him up but it's Minnesota so who knows if someone else will shoot him. I think he has tons of potential! Possible the biggest frame for any of our two year olds and split tines are always fun!

I had a buck like that a few years ago running around. I saw him most every time I hunted I never saw the buck again after that season to see what he grew into

It is hard to play that game with what the neighbors will shoot. Personally I'd let him walk for at least 2 more years. The definition of a trophy is different to everyone. Good luck.

I guess I should ask, do you think this buck is on a booner+ track or just another buck?

You never know for sure...some of them blow up and some just get better but never really great. You have to wait and see.

If you like him, shoot him. If not, let him grow. The only certainty is that if you shoot him, he will not get bigger.

I try not to let the possibility of someone else hunting determine what I want to shoot. I also typically leave it up to the moment to decide if I'm shooting or not. If my internal shoot-o-meter gives me a green light, I'm shooting.
