I keep reading posts referring to paying attention to your thermals when referring to scent control etc. What do you mean? Be easy on my this is my first season bow hunting for deer. Thank you

I didn't click on the link Tony provided you, but if you want to watch them in action take a cotton ball to the woods with you next time...

Tear off little itsy bitsy pieces of fiber and let them go from wherever you're at... You'll watch them not only blow in the direction the wind is taking them, but also rise and fall with the thermals.

The cotton ball thing will introduce to a whole new ball game in terms of what you thought was happening with your scent due to the wind. I do it a lot and have seen my scent do crazy things, things I never would have imagined unless I had witnessed tangible proof.

I hunt hill country 90% of the time and I can tell you the more I learn about thermal activity the more I get deer within range. I used to hunt on the wrong sides of hills, ravines, etc and my success was not even close to what it is today now that I have a basic understanding of thermal activity (have a lot to learn).

yessir ... we have these pod type things with cottony type stuff in them ... I always grab a bunch ... it really is amazing .. I think some guys confuse "variable winds" with thermals at times....

so bottom line .... for the most part, they take your scent up in the am, and down in the pm ....

You need to go to the Blood Brothers website (bloodbro.com) and pick up their videos. Probably the most informational videos about hunting whitetails you could ever watch. They talk a great deal about thermals and how they work. But be prepared, they're long dvds, and in order to soak in all the info, it'll require MULTIPLE viewings, lol.

I'm disappointed they split up before making a Farmland video. They say it's still in the works, but we'll see.

So much for being blood brothers, huh? :D I bought his "Hill Country bucks" dvd last year. A lot of good info but englum is right, I need to watch it again to grasp it all.

Thanks guys, what is the exact video series you think I should get...I would much rather want information than just watching guys kill big deer, if that makes sense. Thanks.

Hill Country but really their all good and any would work. One thing about Dan's video's Is there Isn't much killing going on but rather tons and tons of Information being told. Like a few have said, watch It a bunch as you'll never gather all of the Info the 1st half dozen times.

I think Dan's selling them on his site for $9.95? DEFINITELY get both.. no question about it.

Best instructional hunting info aside from Grizz's topo threads out there! :)

Yup, Greg's right. I just checked and it came to $11.44 with shipping. I paid twice that and would pay it again in a heartbeat.

Now we just got to talk Grizz into writing a book...
