I actually no longer go to the hunting club I grew up in because of things such as this. We get 2 bucks, one any size and 1 with 4pts or more on one side and 10 does. That does not count all the draw hunts and quota hunts that do not require to use your own tag. Nothing like watching a guy who has never ever killed a decent buck kill one and dictate it as camp fair to save his tags. They never get bigger, the number just increases. My grandfather actually gave up control this year after 45+ years because he could do nothing about it. Guys would just quit talking about it, or do whatever the hell they wanted during the week. It use to be a family affair, but over the years they dropped out 1 by 1 and we had to pick up guys to pay the lease. I would rather hunt public land.
i seen a deer at the deer processing plant that had a antler cut off so it would be under the min for length to be counted as a doe kill, local agents stop by this spot often so im sure the was a ticket handed out
It was said earlier I think, but it would all depend on whether it was accidental or intentional. Accidents happen. Learn from it and take care of it. If it was intentional...I'd have a hard time not at the very least saying something about it. I would want everyone involved to be on the same page about hunting legally and ethically, or I'd rather find somewhere else to hunt and someone else to hunt with. I know how much of a temptation it can be. This year I am hunting in a EAB area. I need another antlerless before I can shoot another buck. I thought I was going to get my chance when a HUGE non-typical chased a doe under my stand. I came to full draw on her. But she never slowed. And there was just never a shot on her I was prepared to take. But he stopped at 8 yards slightly quartering. Don't think it didn't run though my head that I was hunting with three others who had a doe and a buck tag. But that was all. The pin never went his way and the arrow never left the string.
Im so glad Im not in a state where I have to EAB or only get one buck tag or one deer tag...man it would kill me
