I leave my phased-plasma pulse rifle in 40-watt range at home. Otherwise, I bring most of my high tech goodies. (GPS, range-finder, cell phone, cameras)

I don't go afield without anything that I'd need! That would be kinda silly, to put this kind of time and effort into something and then go to the woods unprepared.

Commercial scents but I will use acorns and grind them up for cover scent on the bottom of my
boots to and from my stands.

Hunters often spread more of their own scent around as well while dispersing deer scents which is obviously not a good thing

Seriously, no rangefinder for me. I honestly have never had the desire for one. For me part of the challenge of bowhunting was figuring out the yardage for the shot. That is just my preference and I am in no way bashing the use of rangefinders.

I only take my clothes, my heavy old Fred Bear Whitetail 2, 3 arrows, and the cell phone. I've noticed that the guys with GPS are the ones who are hunting in very remote areas. I hunt the land I grew up on, so GPS would be a waste. I do plan on buying one if I ever hunt an area I am unfamiliar with. I figure if it helps you to get your game then use it. Tags taste like crap when you have to eat them.

For the guys who don't care for rangefinders...I just finally bought one last year after thinking for years I didn't need one.

One of my favorite things about it is when I practice shooting at my block target.

I practice from lots of different ranges and use it to verify exactly how far away I am.

But I like if for hunting too. I range a few spots from my stand as soon as I sit down for a hunt.
