That's the main reason why I advocate purchasing land and not playing the leasing game. I simply want my own place to hunt and not have to worry about other hunters, fear of getting shot by some idiot, or finding that a spot is taken and then having to roam around and find another spot. I won't participate on either end of leasing.

That's why I also picked habitat. It's not as extreme as your area but I have talked to/seen farmers that will continue to clear woodlots for fields.

Add to that the ever expanding towns/cities and you have a small area for the deer to be in. There will still be protected public lands but they're not great habitats.

Look up "sarcasm" and then lighten up Francis.

I would agree that land access is the biggest threat to deer hunting as we know it. In fact, it has already change A LOT since I started 32 years ago.

I find it intersting that every single choice has received a vote. Lets face it, there are a lot of concerns out there these days for deer hunters and the next generation.

I'm with Spear on this one with regard to leasing. I can see WHY people lease vs. buy from a cost or availability standpoint, but I don't want the instability of a lease. I want to own my ground. I can see that becoming increasingly more difficult around our area. Land prices are through the roof and rarely does it come for sale. Not many people offering leases, either. Luckily I still have my parents ground and I belong to a cabin not far from here.

This is one of the big reasons I put purchasing land so high up on my priority list. Not only for me but for my kids. Once you have it, they can't take it away.

I agree that all categories are relevant here, just some are greater in my opinion.Again, depends on where you are.I think they wanna take all our means of harvesting our own food away, again thats my opinion. We all together need to be excellent at all that we do.This means clean kills, picking up our garbage when we break camp, respecting the neighbors property, and the property we re hunting on,abiding by rules and laws, not driving off designated roads on public land,etc.etc.etc. We all need to be excellent sportsmen and outdoorsmen.

    Two things:

1- Don't worry about not recognizing this forums humor. You'll get used to it the more you participate.

2- Since you don't know what I despise or do not despise, there is no need for you to ask me kindly or otherwise not to become whatever that may be.

The anti hunters could never raise enough money to effect hunting. Most states economies thrive on hunting and hunting related activities. How are anti's going to raise millions in revenue to each state to make them care enough to listen to them? Follow the money people. If legislators do listen to the anti's it will only help clean up the image of hunters by keeping the "gross" stuff out of sight.
