You've just shot a big _______. What do you do? I remember my first buck kill. I wanted to scream at the top of my lungs and do a little of this...
I have never shot a truly large buck. But when I do, you can bet that I will be as calm as I can until I am actually holding the buck's antlers....then I have no idea what I will do. I imagine I will be smiling from ear to ear and will sit down on the nearest stump and just take it all in, the sounds, smells, and beauty of everything.
Last year I sent a text to my team members then I called Fran (quiksilver) then I went and found the deer. After I found him then I did a little dance.
When I shot my biggest buck I had to just sit down before I fell out of the tree, I lost it all after the shot. I need to have more patience to as soon as I shoot I am ready to get on the ground and start tracking.:d
I'll insert brown bear in the blank because that's the most predictable response; go back to camp/truck and get the bigass rifle.
I immediately call my best hunting buddy for some help then I sit down and stare at my deer until he arrives. While I'm waiting, I relive every minute detail of what just happened, over and over so that I'll never forget. It's quite an excellent experience.
What all good huntin buddies do.........send a text!!:d You know from all of those "I just got a text threads".
Text my hunting buddies and tell them I've got one on the ground. Of course that's after the shaking and regaining my composure.
Text a few friends and get my dad to help me drag him out. :D Last year I even called a few of you clowns.
Well after I regain consciousness from passing out of hyperventilation..........I start texting and calling. It's what all us high tech rednecks do.
Not sure what I would do. Can't say I've been put in that situation (of killing something "big"). However, every kill so far, I shake pretty badly afterward, and I reflect on the events that led up to the shot. When I get to the animal, I certainly do what VS mentioned...simply take it all in.
