I range distances when i first sit down... but i still like to have it handy in case i need it when a deer comes in.. my question is what do you guys do with them?? put them in your pocket, hang from your neck? i seen a couple belt style retractor clips, attach them to your bino harness..what????.. i jus cant seem to find a quiet, outta the way for drawing, less movement formula here....

i pre range targets like trees, rocks, etc and make a mental notes of them so i know my general range once the deer enters my kill zone. for when unsure or out of my zone i have it ready hanging off a hook

It's either hung around my neck and slid into the slash pocket on the chest of my jacket, or, attached to the shoulder strap clip of my binoculars and stuck into a pocket.

Range objects that are near where I predict a deer will approach, then keep it in a close by pocket just in case I need it right before taking a shot.

Put the string thru my belt loop and then the range finder thru the string. Keep it in my pocket. You wont lose it and the string is just the right length to hold it to your eye.

Around my neck or in a shirt pocket--Leica 1600 is fairly compact, and it works for all of the types of shooting/hunting I do.

I typically range certain objects once situated in stand. Mine is also around my neck and under my bino harness (keeps it from flopping around).

not trying to hijack this thread but does any one have a good idea while walking in to keep them from dangling around your neck? i hate it when my binocs, and rangefinder dangle and bang around.
and also when i bend down to get my climber set up, they hang down and get tangled. its a real aggrevation, but i dont want to spend 50 dollars on a harness to hold them.

I keep mine packed in my pack until I'm up in stand. That's when I take them out and hang them around my neck.

Mine is looped around the shoulder of my HSS. Vest then in the front pocket of the vest until needed. Also with it looped that way it kinda hangs to my side if/when I need it. Also I pre-range distances.

My range finder and binoculars are both hung around my neck..the range finder then gets tucked into my left shirt or jacket pocket and the binoculars are in my right pocket. The both come out easy if I need them.

I put two zip ties and kind of made a loop around the shoulder strap on my safety harness. Then i put a carabiner clip on my rangefinder and just clip it on the zip ties. I kind of ghetto rigged the general idea of the range snap products.

You guys that have your range finders in your packs on the way to your stands...you're not worried about NOT having it readily available if a shot presents itself? I'm assuming you guys meant both morning and evening walk-ins.

No I'm not worried about not having them available on my walks into or out of stand. I feel a lot more comfortable judging distance on the ground than I do from the tree.
