After smoking up with a scent smoker in the field, do you put out the fire somehow or let it burn itself out? If you do put it out, how do you do it? Where do you put the smoker when it is still hot? Just looking for ideas to make sure I don't set the woods or my truck on fire!!! Thanks, Drew Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I put the fire out and fill up the smoker with water about half way then usually just set it in the bed of my truck. Have done that probably close to 10 times and havent had a single issue yet. If I was on my own land or house I would set it on concrete somewhere and let it burn out on its own.
Just close the lid and put the cork in the spout. Use a clump of dirt if you dont have the cork. It will die out quickly
I've just been putting it on the tailgate and letting it burn out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You can use a piece of duct tape to cover the snout. You can also dump out the ashes in a puddle or if you have bare dirt around where you are using it. I have a big ammo can that I put my smoker in for travel and I use the lid to set the hot smoker on. Can also leave a brick in the back of your truck to set it on. The duct tape works the best if you cannot dump it out. Just want to do it a little sooner before you leave to make sure it's out and cooling down first.
Just grab a wad of green grass, or weeds, and twist it into a plug and plug the spout. The smoker will go out in no time, and you can use the remaining fuel to get it started the next time you use it. For storing your smoker between uses, and a safe place to store it while it's still hot, those decorative metal tin popcorn cans work great. You see those everywhere around the holidays. Pick one up..........eat the popcorn, and repurpose the can for your smoker. I know several beekeepers that use the tins for that...........works great!
I shove the brass from a 12 gauge shell in mine (cut the plastic off where it meets the brass). Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S4
