They are not going to ban guns. This discussion has been beaten to death since the beginning of time.... I believe the government knows full well that disarming the american citizens of every gun would have disastrous results. I see bans on the "assault" class weapons, magazine limitations and perhaps tax hikes on all firearms and ammunition.
If they show up and I am out gunned, I am protecting my family. I have a Glock, .22, Model 12 2250 and a 30-30 lever action, if they showed up and I was out gunned, and I would be. How is starting a gun fight protecting anyone?
I think this is bigger then just guns. The government in general and the federal government in particular has gotten too intrusive into our lives. Its not going to be just guns, what about our wealth also? When we add in incidental taxes and fees, plus state and local property taxes we are already having 50% plus of our incomes are already being taken from us. HIGHER federal tax rates on the horizon too. Guns are the start, but just the tip of the iceberg. This country was founded on civil liberties and private property rights. Both are be eroded so faster then anytime in our history.
I have a shot gun and a rifle with no paper trail to me so those I would try to stash away and keep. I only have one other gun so I guess they would get that one. I'm planning on ordered an AR 15 soon though...not in reponse to recent events...it's something i've thought about for awhile
Given the options, i dont think my house would be the first one in the nation they come too, so my guns would all have been "sold" a long time ago at yard sales. I have plenty of places on my farm to hide weapons.
You ask this with the belief that our government has morals or ethics, both are traits I find absent in the majority of "public servants."
I have some shotguns, a handi rifle, a ML, a 22 and a 380 pistol. Not exactly an arsenal worthy of getting killed over. I wouldn't want to hand them over, but I'm not going to prison or getting killed over them. Neither would do my family any good. I know this was a "what if", but people that worry about confiscation really need to take a look at reality. The police don't have enough man power, time or money to stop illegal immigration, drugs, even drunk drivers at an effective rate. To think the government could pull something off like gun confiscation , is laughable at best.
No, I know that they don't. As a citizen, this is the type of thing that concerns me about the direction of our country.
As a young boy, I learned to be prepared. That is the motto of the Boy Scouts. To, that means to look forward at all times, observe your surroundings and adapt to what you believe could happen. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best. That is what I do, that is how I live my life. I have found that this thought process has saved me from many difficult times. This time is no different. The liberal anti-gun advocates have been waiting in the wings for this exact situation. A time when the country is mourning the losses at such a high level. This is the time that they are going to attack the rights that we have. That may or may not include banning guns, but you can bet your bottom dollar they are going to attack semiautomatic weapons, and most likely will attack ammunition, as it is not specifically covered in the constitution. I personally am preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. They will not find my guns. Seems I lost them in a boating accident while duck hunting.
If such a thing happened... people will roll over like the castrated sheep they are. Heck, if 'they' showed up at your door and said the entire Bill of Rights has been declared null and void... People would still willingly put up their wrists and be shackled rather than fight back. It's just the way it is.
I'm not so sure Germy. Look how much our population has dropped since the last election. All those people that moved to a different country after Obama was re-elected. They put their money where their mouth is. Take that.
