Something that has been in my head a lot the last few days. Enough that I even looked at how hard it would be to move to Canada. Kinda hard ti hide them...they know what you have. Ill tell you one thing, ill be keeping my eyes out for old ladies who lost their husbands and want to see their guns...need some with no paper trail just in case. I'd like to say we will all stand up and they won't get our guns...we do out number our army by a ton. But, most talk but will never act.
I believe Obama can only do what the Republican led House will allow him too...I don't expect any significant changes to gun laws coming anytime soon. I think there will even be some Democrats that won't get behind aggressive gun control measures....depending on the area they represent it could cost them an election
That is what I was about to post. Since the GOP has the house any radical stuff would need GOP approval. We are safe for at least two years. If they want to propose and pass some minor stuff (clip size limits or whatever) I'm fine with that.
Problem with that is. Every time we compromise we lose a little piece of the pie. There comes a point there's no pie left and its all gone.
You would think that but surprisingly Illinois may not keep as good a track of you as you think. Couple years ago I got my foid card revoked, got it back, but I called the foid offices in Springfield and they informed me that while not having a valid foid I could still have all firearms registered in my name and all I was supposed to do was give them to someone who did have card. Also didn't have to change registration of show to them who I gave it too. So basically couldn't buy ammo or posses firearms but could have them registered in my name, not much sense. As for the subject I think if it comes down to that I wouldn't want to think what would happen, civil war type invents I would imagine. And by that time they better be waiving a white flag along ways off.
I know this. But it is fun thinking about hypothetical. And I have a feeling most of the people in this thread would give up their guns. They might ***** and moan and complain, but in the end, they would give them up.
Hooker (and anyone else interested in a hypothetical 'what if they come for the guns' scenario) This is an easy, entertaining read. http://www.amazon.com/Enemies-Forei...&sr=8-2&keywords=enemies+foreign+and+domestic
Im with hooker on this one, most will give them up. But I think it might also be a little hard to get the national guard to disarm ( and possibly kill ) u.s. citizens. Would really be interesting to watch the news in the months following a gun ban. I really don't think disarming the public is even an option to politicians because of the " more harm then good" possibility.
I agree. I would have hid mine as soon as first talk broke of them doing this though. If they had a warrant I would obviously let them search the premises and confiscate what they find (nothing or maybe 1-2 guns of my 20 to seem as though I am coughing them up)
Under this situation. Do they pay you the value of your gun or are you just out the money invested? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It would be a contribution to your new overlords within the US government. They would probably let you write it off though.
If it got to that point, I would gladly hand over my guns, my citizenship and move to a different country like Switzerland. If it gets to that point, we are no longer America, the land of the free.
Do you have any idea how expensive Switzerland is? America has not been "the land of the free" for quite some time and a lot of people on this site seem to be fine with it. It is funny watching them freak out when an individual freedom that they agree with becomes even hypothetically threatened, but if denying someone else a freedom doesn't affect them, or they do not believe in that freedom, then they are all for it.
I only have 2 guns that have any sort of a paper trail, a Ruger 10/22 and a TC muzzleloader. If it came down to it, they could have those guns and the rest would be stashed somewhere only I could find.
hypothetically speaking if it ever got to this point there would be states that would no longer be part of America (lets say Alaska) I would be there in a heartbeat. If this was not the scenario then I would be in New Zealand.
