When I lived in Canada I worked as a piping designer for natural gas compression plants. I loved it - got to travel across the country about 3 or 4 weeks a year as an added bonus. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

The tolls of an office job can far outweigh the body aches Dan. At least now you don't have a boss or group of bosses looking over your shoulder after you leave the warehouse every day. Focus on the positives of the job and downplay the negatives. I hope it works out for you lil brother.
I work at Scheels All Sports. It is the largest sports store in IL. It is an amazing job and I get to deal with the outdoors daily. I set guys up with hunting gear that they need and not with all the phonny stuff on the market. The best part of the job is getting everything at COST. our jobs allow us to buy everything we need from clothes to bows to arrows to guns to shoes at COST. We get around 15 days a year plus 4 holidays and 4 short holidays off
I'm not "a pop guy", but I can say that Mountain Dew has made me a lot of money. Great combination of citric acid and sugar with just enough caffeine to keep them hooked.
Your right. I do get a lot of freedom on the job. I am grateful to have a job that supports my amazing family. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 4
Retired Marine. Currently a Game Warden. Work days, nights, weekends and holidays. Phone rings all the time day and night. Work 80 to 85 hours every two weeks and usually set my own daily work schedule. Get two days off a week, get to be outdoors all the time. What a great way to spend my retired years. Love my job.
CNC Machinist for large mining trucks. Liked it a while lot more about 5 years ago, but it's manageable. Work 4 10 hour days M-Thurs. During busy times, which are far and few between anymore, usually have a lot of OT on the weekends. 2 weeks vacation plus 3 day weekends, 7 paid holidays including birthday.
I'm retired Navy. I have worked in several training and development roles, most recently as a an education research analyst with the Department of the Navy. In August my position was eliminated due to cost savings measures implemented due to the Congressional Sequester bill. I'm working on a couple of good job prospects and hope to be back to work soon.
Concrete construction and equipment operator. Mainly do basements and crawl spaces but sometimes flatwork. I like it, most days. As far as vacation we work whenever we can, which is if its not raining or cold out. Dont really stop for heat just go until can't go anymore. Best part about my job is its my hs buddies company so if I want off I just take off. The jobs hard on your body but I wouldn't want to do much else.
New Car Sales manager which means my hours suck and I never get 2 days off in a row. I make it work with the 2 weeks of vacation that i now have and do the best that i can.
I'm a milk truck driver (milkman). I'm self employed and own my own truck. I pick up milk from the dairy farms In the area and haul It to a cheese plant that's 6 miles from where I live. 14 hour days 7 days a week. I do have one employee that works for me. I put In anywhere from 40 hours a week to 110 hours a week. Mostly average around 75 to 80 hours a week. 40 hours a week seem like I've done nothing all week being I'm so used to the long hour weeks. Some years my job sucks. I've went over 4 months without a single day off. As long as I can get off for bear hunting I guess I'll be fine. Now that I have a daughter I do take more time off. Winters suck with my job with where I live here In Minnesota. I always work holidays too which Isn't such a bad thing at times. 2012 Mack. Tank Is 6000 gallons. Holds 52,500lbs of milk. I haul 4 loads a day In totalling about 6,000,000lbs of milk a month.
