I spent nearly 15yrs in the construction industry.....managing projects from $.75M to over $70M. I was hired by a company that has developed sound attenuating products for the construction industry, to introduce their products to the parties responsible for specifying them into future projects. I just developed and submitted a program to the AIA (American Institute of Architects - CES Div.), for accreditation, that now allows me to go into their (architects) firms......and educate them on the various construction means/methods to achieve their sound attenuation requirements. They receive continuing education credit. Our products receive exposure. Win-win.

Given my background, interaction with architects has always been a pseudo-adversarial endeavor (at times). I still find it intimidating (to a degree) that "I" am educating them......at their craft.....lol.

This program (AIA/CES), I'm finding, has endless potential for many companies providing goods/materials/services to the industry. I'm already devising ways in which I could make this a consultative, entreprenurial endeavor (doing the same thing for several comapnies). I'm presenting my program once or twice a day.......2-3 days a week (with 1-2 days of administrative/scheduling work thrown in each week). I make my own schedule.....which I love.

If I play my cards right.......I can see the day when I'd do nothing but schedule 2-3 folks to do what I now do.....and I'd simply handle the administrative end.

As for myself I'm self employed. I own and run a milk hauling business. Myself, one full time employee and one part time employee pick up milk from the local dairy farms In the area and haul that to a cheese plant called First District Association http://firstdistrict.com/index.htm which makes cheese, whey products, butter. We (my truck) haul over 6 million pounds of milk to this plant a month. 17 hour days, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. If I'm not driving my truck, I'm doing something related to my business. 80 hours a week Is a normal week for me. When I hit the 90 to 100 hour mark a week, that's when I get growly. I hate my job In the winter. Picking up milk In a snow storm Is a real ***** and dangerous and working In minus zero temps sucks as well!!
