As a senior with 2 months of school left ... I'd be interested to know what you guys do for a living? I'm a marketing manager for a portable traffic manufacture. We sell and lease portable traffic systems and signals to construction companies, rental companies, towns, counties, utility companies, bridge painters, etc. It's a growing industry, and it enthralls me. Work is a handy 2 miles away from our farm (.50 mile, as the crow flies!). I do a fair amount of traveling, but for the most part get to schedule my own work - freeing up hunting time. What about you? Thanks for participating!
Went to school and got a Certificate for Industrial Electrical Controls Technician. Wiring and programming PLCs.(Programmable Logic Controller) Now I am waiting to get into an apprenticship so I can be an Industrial Electrician.
GFY - Cool. What's the name of your company? Been there long? MGH- What all does the Tech. class entail? Could be a cool class! AK - Good luck on the app!
I am a machinist for a job shop. I completed my Apprenticeship a couple years ago which was a 4 year program. Basically if someone brakes something, they bring it to us. We have no set product we make.
I am a Service manager for an outboard/boat/atv/snowmobile dealership. Started out there as the yard monkey and worked my way up the food chain. Damn its been a long 15years LOL Cheers
Self employeed.I have a mobile truck and trailer repair business ie. eighteen wheelers. This is my fifth year,I can set my own schedule----most of the time allowing me to hunt quite often, however sometimes my work enterferes with my hunting!
I teach everything from Graphic Design to electronics to web design and even woodshop. Jack of all trades and a master of none:D
Plant manager for a machine/tool & die shop that makes parts for Caterpillar and a few other companies. It's been kinda slow lately, why don't you all go out and buy a bull dozer! :D
Department Manager for a large International Bank. I get the joy of dealing with schedules for 2 call centers on either side of the country and hear about 600 employees all whine when they cant have take the same day off. Been doing it about 5 years.
I deal in other people's pain and suffering. Sometimes it's disturbing. But folks in my line of work adhere to the mindset of 'better you than me'. Then there are the patients who come in because they have crammed things into their own orificies.... they provide some degree of levity to the job. (note; the ER staff does not believe that the item 'accidently inserted itself' no matter how many times you say it.) The swine flu scare was good for business. It's kind of slowing down now. I'll refrain from asking you all to get sick or injured.. but if you do... I have a couple of hospitals I can recommend. :D
I currently work at a meat snacks company and subway, but am going to college for Wildlife Biology. I hope to work with a conservation organization such as Pheasants Forever or something. The pay isn't that great, but it will help me preserve my passion.
I work with USPS part time, I'm 6th in line for a full time position.... ughhh. Also work at a local restaurant on the weekends and help a buddy mow yards in the summer.
I'm a junior business management major/econ minor right now. My dad is a second generation small business owner (Water and Sewer contractor) in Minneapolis/St. Paul, and I hope to take that over, someday.
I'm a 3rd year construction management major, so 9 months out of the year i'm pretty immersed in that. During the summer I'm a grunt for a residential construction company, do everything from framing, siding, excavation/gradework, landscaping, roofing, and even some concrete. I love working outside but I know my body can't take it forever.
I own and operate a golf course here in NY. Not nearly as glamorous as you would think. Pretty much work sunup to sundown seven days a week. I do everything from giving lessons, booking tournaments, running leagues, spraying fungicides, mowing fairways, cooking, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, irrigation technician, fixing equipment, running backhoe, checking in golfers etc..... I have my finger on EVERY aspect of the business and not afraid to be hands on about it. Plus I hit a gazilion golf balls each week. Before owning this golf course I spent my younger years bouncing around mini tours and Q school trying to ultimately reach the PGA tour. I've been close.... really close, but never happened. Nowadays that dream is pretty much over. I'm not exactly a spring chicken, commitments and priorities have changed. And honestly I can't afford the time commitment again to "maybe" have a chance. You really need to work at it to keep your game to the level needed. Too much of a risk at this point in my life (both money and time). So I'll do my thing and keep my game as good as my time allows me (which is still pretty dam good I must say):p Who knows I may try the Open qualifier or some monday qualifiers for the hell of it.
