with the season opening up i was wondering what is the average wieght of the deer in your area and where do u hunt? I am in east texas our does average about 110 and mature bucks are around 150. Of coarse i always hear about the 200 pound monster but most are just over estimated. Not saying they are not there but i have never seen one dead or alive.

For the most part 4.5+ year old bucks here will dress out In that 200lb range. Some will hit that 250lb dressed range. Really depends on the time of year also. From all of the chasing and after the rut Is over I've saw older bucks loose over 70lbs. A big doe around here Is In that 115 to 120 pound range dressed. It seems everyone around here shoots a 170lb doe every year. Their so full of It.

Here in IA I shot a doe that weighed 120 field dressed and she was kinda small. Our 4 year old bucks average around 225.

does 145 and bucks 170. thats what the MN DNR says anyways. Heaviest deer ever taken in the US was a 500lb buck in minnesota. once again thats what the DNR says. And its on the internet. Has to be true right?:tu:

The better sized bucks I have killed have dressed out in the 180-220 range.

The time of season makes a big difference.

They are ussually much heavier during the early season versus later November.

This IL Buck was 6 to 7 years old I checked it in at the sherriffs office and they weighed it in their garage @ 225 lb's field dressed. This is a good corn fed old timer.

He was taken in Southern IL in 1995 and a lady getting started in Taxadermy offered to mount it for $125. you can tell it was her first deer mount. She ordered the wrong size mount and decided to just cut off the extra hide to make it fit. When I went to pick it up I had thought she was giving me a diffent deer. You get what you pay for. I'll upload a kill pic later on.

    Generally does run 90-135# dressed.

year & half bucks 100-125 dressed, topping out around 190# dressed, with the occasional 200+. Although personally I think a lot more bucks around here are estimated over 200, than actually reach that mark. That's a really big deer. I've killed a couple "huge" bodied bucks & they didn't crack 200#.

The average weight for a buck in my neck of the woods is between 150-170 dressed, I have shot two, much larger bodied deer in the past few years one dressing out at 220 and the other dressing out at 240. These were not deer from my property, they came from the other side of the river where they were being bunker fed by the local pro shop dealer who recently got found out about and all feeding has now seized. Someone tipped him off after someone tipped the DNR off.

Here in Northern Indiana most older does will dress between 100 and 125 pounds. Bucks all depend on the time of the year. I shot my buck last year before the rut and he dressed 220lbs. I'm willing to bet if it was 6 weeks later he probably would have been in the 180lbs range. With that said most bigger bucks dress in the 170lbs to 200lbs range.
