So I am piecing together a list of things I will want/need for filming. So far I have he following:

    Camera
    Remote control
    Camera arm
    Shotgun mic
    Memory card
    Extra battery
    Second angle cam (GoPro)

So, what am I missing that is important or that would help make things easier in the tree for me?

I'm basically doin the same so I'm no expert. You have camera arm listed but also depending on what you go with you may also need a head to mount camera too. Most people I talk to say go with a fluid head of some kind.

Also one other thing I did was go with a camera with internal memory so don't have the need for sd cards. Of course that's depending on how much memory your think on needing. The cam I have has 64gb of memory so it says it will store about 5.5hours. Just something to think about.

    Good luck

Your missing a fluid head. Most tree arms don't come with camera heads or if they do they aren't worth a darn. Depending on the camera you get will determine the head that you need. I use a Manfrotto 701Hdv Fluid head and love it with my Canon XA10.

You can always look at going with a wireless mic setup instead of a boom mic. Both have advantages and disadvantages.

What camera arm do you use? I am just going to use a small Sony HD cam.

I was looking at this camera arm but if its not decent quality I dont want to get it for sure:

I just ordered my camera today also and that was the arm I was going to go with also. Seems to look good enough for these smaller/light weight type handycams. I think I have changed my mind now though for a Lone Wolf Camera Arm. Its about the same price.

Yeah that one looks good! Looks shorter though..is it? It didnt say in Amazon for some reason. I was wanting a longer one for if/when the game comes in on the left and I have the camera set on the right...want enough arm to be able to get the camera past my gut haha

I am using a custom made arm with my 701 fluid head. Most of the heads that come with the more inexpensive arms are alright for the Handycam style cameras but I would still look into upgrading the head. Most of those heads you need to loosen the head to tilt it and a seperate knob to adjust the rotation. With the fluid heads you don't have to deal with any of that.

Any chance you have a recommendation for an Arm/fluid head combo that might work for me? Just curious, no big deal if you dont know off the top of your head. Looked up the fluid head you have, sure aint cheap haha. But I can see paying it if its worth it.

Yea I feel ya lol makes perfect sense. I know LW offers an extended arm you can add to it as well if it does happen to be too short. I'm gunna play it by ear.

Don't know much about fluid heads but ferg seems to know his stuff! lol Id the one doesn't work out for me that comes with the LW arm I know who I'll be asking for advice and direction haha

A good quality pack is something you havent mentioned to pack it all! For your lighter setup the lone wolf arm and a decent fluid head would get you a great start!

^what he said^ X 1000!I bought one for my Lone Wolf camera arm this year and it has made a Tremendous difference. Also look at getting a good light for your camera to do your interview after you kill a deer at night. I had to do this because I hunt alone and no one is there to film me after my kills. There are a ton of them on Amazon. You can also look at a cordless work light with a stand too.

Both great adds to the list! Thanks guys! I plan on doing some long hike in spots on public land next year, so think I am going to get a cart to help carry everything, but a bag to put everything in is a great point, and the light is something I forgot all about! Thank you so much!
