my first buck i ran to my dad's stand and told him, i got yelled at for moving and not sitting where i told him i was gonna. he helped me track it, we found it and i was scared it wasnt dead! so he pulled out his .44mag that he carries as a sidearm and blew most of the antlers off the deers head.... a few tears later i calmed down and managed to get a smack across my face for raising my voice to my father screaming, "why the heck did you shoot off his antlers, i thought you were gonna just put one in him!" first big buck shook like a leaf on a tree and almost fell outta the tree, dropped my phone trying to call all my buddies and left my pack with my knife in the tree. biggest buck pretty calm actually until i got down and found that he had two more tines than i thought... was rough season and i had moved a total of 8 hours from my old house in MN not knowing what to expect from the great land of IL.
I'm immediately excited..the highest of highs. Amongst the shaking on all of my deer not only bucks I immediately call my dad, brothers and hunting buddies.
First buck with the bow i shot it and watched in fall 30 yards away and then sat down in my sat and shook for like 5 minutes and then called my grandpa and still was shakkin. I had a hard time talking on the phone
After taking the shot(first and only bowkill), I had to calm down enough to call a buddy and tell him to come over and help track it, and while I was talking a little forkhorn came walking by sniffed the bloody arrow on the ground. Definitely a day I will never forget.
I actually was sort of in shock. I had seen and tried to kill my biggest buck for three years before I finally got a crack at him. It took me nearly all night to drag this deer out by myself and then had to back the rear wheels of the truck into a ditch to load him. I did not sleep all night and finally called my brother at 5am central time, 3am in Seattle to tell hm about it.
My 1st deer was a spike buck. After looking it over I ran home to tell my dad. My 1st bigger buck came a few years later , after looking it over, I ran home to tell my dad. Sometimes I miss the simple days of hunting when I did all my hunting on our 160 acres within walking distance of the farm. (also known as home at that time)
Hello guys...I haven't been around here for awhile. My first whitetail with bow was also my first big buck and is still my best to date. The first thing I did after shooting the buck was just sit in my stand for awhile thinking about what had just happend. Then I walked to my truck and drove to the farm to get my Dad. He helped me recover it and drag it out. We took pictures the next morning. Oh yeah....I was very excited...almost to the point of disbelief. :D
I shot my first good buck when I was 13. I was hunting on public land behind my house, and watched the buck go down about 50 yards from the stand. I tagged the buck and sat right next to it. During this, a 10 pointer worked the hill above me about 50 yards away for a few minutes. Once dark arrived, I knew my dad would be home so I ran back to my house to get help. I was one excited kid. My first "big" buck was this past year. I heard the deer go down, and called my dad from the stand to tell him I think I had just killed my first P&Y animal. My friend came out to help me find him, and plenty of pictures were later snapped upon the recovery.
After I shot my first buck, I shook. I shook a lot. Haha. When I could finally calm down enough to hit the buttons straight on my cell phone, I called my dad and tried to say something like "I just shot a deer". But I'm pretty sure it came out something more like..."My phew whooo, uhh shooosh durrr, I shotta, I shotta, I shotta. I shot a deer!"
First Buck - I ran back to the truck, got inside and drank hot chocolate... it was -16 with a 20mph wind. First Big Buck - I stuck him and watched him take off into the timber. Then I ran full speed across the wheat field to my buddy to tell him what happened. Biggest Buck - Dialed up the phone and called about 8 people then walked the 50 yards to him.
