Jumped out of the treestand, found my arrow, found where the blood trail started, then gave my dad a big ol bear hug.
First Elk: Thought I Missed! lol. Turn around to see me dad jumping up an down. look back at the bull and blood is rolling out his side. from here on out, I teared up. In the manliest(sp?) way of course First Deer:After the shot I turned around, hung up a bow and said "smoked his ass" Then proceeded to whoop and holler when he tipped over 50yrds out. Had to sit in the tree for 15mins cause I was shakin to bad to get out made alot of phone calls at this point.. when did we get new smilies? lol
Got the hell out of the tree before I fell out of it. I was a total wreck and i still get this way thank gosh.
Well, pretty much every deer(or at least all bucks) I’ve shot started off with Dad being the first one notified, whether it was by phone or heading over to his location where he was hunting. Heck even a few he was there watching. My 1st buck, that was bittersweet as I knew I had made a gut shot. So it was all about remembering everything the deer did before going out of sight & marking in my mind the last place I saw it. Then it was off to relay the info to Dad. 1st big buck had some drama as well. Thought I made a good shot, but there was no blood initially. So I backed out. Couldn’t get a hold of my Dad, I had a cell, he didn’t & was not home. It was an 80 degree day so I couldn’t wait too long. Went out after the deer myself, found it in 10 minutes. The deer went maybe 50 yds. Biggest buck, it dropped in sight, I just called him from the tree to help me drag it.
First buck..I always take a sec to thank the man above for the moment, After getting it loaded I showed everyone I could show :D first big buck...I always take a sec to thank the man above for the moment, I shot it at first light, drug it out loaded it, was back at camp, had it hung and was relaxing around the fire when all the other hunters came rolling The horns were sounding off Biggest Buck, 2010 I always take a sec to thank the man above for the moment. I text my neighbor while still in tree and a couple of my homies from here. I then called my twin :D after the recovery :D OH, I did a buckeye chest thump to
My very first buck with a bow was a 156" 13 point. I hunt on our farm 75 miles away, usually alone and with no cell phone reception so I didn't have anybody around for a celebration. I shot him at 10 yards and thought I missed b/c he just stood there. He finally began to trot off while I tried to re-nock an arrow. I was shaking so bad I couldn't do it. The rollercoaster of emotion that went through me I'll never forget. I was excited to have got the shot off but then extremely upset b/c I thought I missed. I got the binos out and saw some white that looked like the underbelly but wasn't sure if it was weeds or under growth. I got down and found the arrow covered in blood. My excitement level peaked. I followed the blood trail and found him piled up about 60-70 yards from the stand. It was a perfect heart shot. I didn't know how big he was b/c it happened all too fast. I sat there in amazement and thanked God for the opportunity and experience. I had to drag him 100 yards and through a 6 foot creek. I walked back the 1/2 mile to the truck and came and got him. In the process of trying to heave him into the truck alone, I set my bow in my bowcase and either forgot to put it in the bed of my truck or it slipped out as I was parked on a pretty steep hill. Either way, I ran over my bowcase as I backed up. I got out of the truck and realized that I got extremely lucky and the bowcase was broke but no damage to the bow. That is why even today I will never buy soft cases for my bows. As I was driving home, some workers were working on putting up some wind turbines. I was sitting there for quite sometime to let me pass through when a worker saw what I had in the back of the truck. He radioed to the guy down the road from him and had me stop. All the workers came over and gathered around the bed of my truck right there in the middle of the road. They were congratulating me and wanted to know all the details. It is one of my favorite days in my short 30 years and I will remember it for the rest of my life.
Waited for what seemed an eternity, but in all actuality was probably more like five minutes , then crawled down and went to the shot site. Found a ton of blood, and a trail looking like it had been poured out of a bucket leading away -- but I still had no clue what to do with it. So I quietly backed out and drove back home and called a friend and got hi to leave work and come help me track it, LOL! It probably wasn't 70 yards away but then we high-fived and whooped and admired him before hauling him out.
Well it all started on a frosty November morning sitting high up in a Maple Tree when I heard something come tearing into my left so I grabbed my bow and got ready and it their was a Doe standing Broadside and 20 Yards so I drew back and shot and it went right over her back so I climbed down and went to get my uncle to look to see if I hit or not but when I went to his stand he shot the doe because it ran and stopped about 30 yards from him so while he was gutting it out a 8 pointer ran down a ridge and started towards and stopped at 25 yards broadside at this time I was at full draw and as soon as he stopped the arrow was on its way.
1. watched and listenened .... CRASH!! 2. took a deep breath 3. thanked God for the opportunity he gave me 4. called a buddy to help me drag him out.
I shot the deer, waited 2 hours to track him and found him about 200 yards away from where I shot him. After stressing for about 20min trying to figure where the hell he went as his blood trail disappeared at a fence and couldn't find anything on each side of the fence. We found him 20 yards away over a hill. I hollered over to my brother "Hey look, it's my deer!!!!". Once the gutting started I wasn't so excited, but still didn't mind considering the work it took to get my first deer. We than loaded him up and went to my dads to show him my first deer. After procrastinating the idea of hunting from the age of 12 til 26 my dad was fairly proud to see me take my first deer. We had some good beer while skinning him than cooked up some tenderloins. They sure were tasty.
Here's what I did...... I got hand shakes and high fives from many of the people on the track job. I had allot with, I was excited. I was 14 I think. Got real nervous watching my buck trot off and bed or fall down and lay there. I honestly thought I didn't have hardly any penetration so I was really confused when he stumbled and layed down. Boy was I wrong on thinking no penetration. Later after the track job and high fives I hung my buck In the garage and I grabbed a few beers and did a salute to my buck In my garage by myself. I actually got a little teared up over It. I've only shot what I think Is one decent buck so I can't answer this one YET.
First deer was a pretty nice buck. I shot him and watched him run through a barbwire fence. It was cloudy enough where you could see the sparks fly as he pulled the wire through the staples on the fence. He broke one of the four strands of barbwire... it was really old fence!! LOL I was amazed as it didn't seem to slow him down much !!! Then he was gone into the trees. As I sat trying to calm myself down it started raining. I was bummed and worried. I walked back to my buddy's truck. I was in college at the time and 4 of us were bow hunting in the same area. We decided to wait until morning with the rain. It was a long, sleepless night. About a half hour before light... 6 of us went back to the area to look. We got there at daylight. The rain washed out any sign so we just fanned out and started looking. Scott found him about 10 minutes into the walk. He was roughly 70 - 90 yards from the stand. Everyone was pumped up to say the least. Got him back to town in time for my second class. Well I was a little late but the teacher knew what was going on and was pretty cool about it. I think I got a congrats from everyone in class. I had buddies and teachers step in the room to say congrats. News traveled fast. The teacher was starting to get a little torque with all the commotion. He wasn't getting much teaching in. LOL Then another teacher came in and drug me out of there as he wanted pitcures of the deer and I. I got back to class only to get drug out of there again by the same teacher. He said the local town paper wanted me to go down there with the buck for more pictures. I made the paper !! Front page even !!! I am not sure why it turned out to be such a big deal at college... but it was pretty neat. I got my 15 minutes of fame. MY biggest buck... I remember just staring at him and smiling. The hunt leading up to the shot was such a rush. I was worried I wouldn't get a shot at him and he was under 10 yards. I shot him at 12 yards from the ground. Walked back and got Tyler and the truck. After pictures, gutting and loading him... we stopped at the farm to show the boss and call the wife. Tim
First buck I was sitting with my dad so we sat tight and I got to watch him shoot a deer too. First "big" buck the first thing I did was call one of my best friends. Biggest buck first thing I did was call my brother.
My first buck was when I was 13. I was sitting at a downed tree with a very large root ball and roots hanging off the base. I saw some deer coming about 100 yards away in a single file line. I grabbed my 30-30 and scoped them as they got closer. I saw the third deer was a buck. Back then it was unusual to see bucks around. I shot and he went down. The other deer scattered and I scoped the deer again and he was kicking. I thought he was going to get up so i shot 2 more times. He quit moving. I was so excited that when I walked up to him I didn't notice right away that I had shot his one antler off. My cousin noticed it was laying a few feet away. He was only a 5 point that I had turned into a Y. Now when I shoot a Buck the first thing I do is Thank God! And check for both antlers! Now that I only hunt archery I don't worry too much about shooting off an antler. My aim is much beter that when I was 13. Although I've only taken a few decent bucks with the bow
The first time I killed a buck with my bow, I called my wife while I was in the middle of the wood. I was hype ventilating. :D But it was pretty funny.
I forgot about the phone call that I made to my girlfriend. I remember telling her how excited I was that we found my deer. Than my brother left me to go and get his truck and I was telling her how weird it kind of felt having it just be me and my dead deer left in the middle of a field. It was one of those things where I was almost waiting for him to get up and run away. haha.
My first back I ran all the way back to the house about a half mile away. First big buck I got down ran to my little 12 ft jon boat and paddled across the creek and finally got cell service and called my dad and everyone I knew.
My first bow buck. I knew he was hit a little far back so I backed out after seeing him lay down about 80 yards away. When I came back I found him dead. The FIRST thing I did was kneel and pray. Then I texted pics to everyone on the planet.
