Hi guys Im new to the world of crossbows, just was recently introduced to the sport.. im pretty much now hooked!! I have signed up to a couple of forums, just recently signed up to crossbowforum.com, and asked quite a few questions, surprised they didn't get annoyed with me haha. Anyway forgot to ask... can anyone give me some advice on a new crossbow to buy for a beginner? something not so heavy! and not so expensive..
This all depends on your price range! Just like compound bows, there are a ton of crossbows out there. My uncle hunts with hoyt compound almost all the time but invested in a TenPoint crossbow just to have something else to shoot. Another guy we hunt with shoots a TenPoint and they are bad to the bone but I think they are on the higher side of the price line. But they sure are nice. You will have to just do some research and talk to people to see what you think and possibly shoot some. Pat
What's your budget? You might want to start off with a cheaper 2nd hand crossbow to see if you're going to like it or not. The ten points are pricey but I do like them. Went through this a couple years ago with my dad and ended up getting him a ten point.
I got a Barnett Quad 400 a little over a month ago. Absolutely love it!! Got it from a dealer on ebay for $325 with shipping
If your looking on the low end a great xbow is the barnett recruit its light very stable and accurate and fully setup for around 250 there great 2 of my buddys bought them last season and killed a bunch of does there very accurate out to 50 also the buck commander is a nicer xbow by barnett that has all the features your looking for but if your looking to spend more than go with a mission there the best imo i love my mxb 400 its a yote killing machine out to 80 yards.
