Due to some recent very unfortunate circumstances im now eligible to hunt with a cross bow during regular archery season so i figured id give it a go. I know nothing about crossbows so ill ask you all, what is a quality crossbow that will not make me go broke? I will be hunting elk, white tail, and mule deer with it. There is a cabelas near me and some other shops too but i have no idea what brands of crossbow they carry

I have a Center Point 370. I've been pleased with it for the price.

It might help to know what kind of budget you are wanting to contend with...
And as far as "unfortunate" events go, almost sounds more like a blessing in disguise.

I got a Tenpoint turbo Gt. from Lancaster archery. It was a last years model with the accu draw for $450 fully loaded. You sound like you’ll need something that helps you pull back the string. That accu draw is nice.

When I tore my rotator cuff and went crossbow I went cheap, but relied on reviews as well. Ended up with a Wicked Ridge Invader G3. WR is the lower priced line made by Ten Point.

One thing I will tell you, don't listen to all the hating by others. Depending on what style hunting you do, they aren't a rifle and can be a disadvantage in a lot of instances. Heavier and bulkier, not box blind friendly. A lot louder than a bow so the odds of a second shot are next to nil.

Mines older and it's a wicked ridge warrior XLdead on from a factory set scope and nearly 10 yrs later still is.
Now if I were to get a new one... mission.

I have a killer instinct KI360 that I have harvested mule deer and whitetail with. This year Will be my first year trying elk with a crossbow. I have shot elk with my bow and my rifle but not my crossbow.
