well when I was shooting the other day one my buddies said man it looks like your arrows are not flying as flat or as fast as they were with blazers....he said it must be the drag created by the feathers...???

LOL!! I told him that..I said maybe if were shooting 40 or 50 yds yes, but not under 30...he said I should try the new Rayzrs from Gateway, but I think they are no different from other 2" feathers that are made for fp's and 3D....

No one in their right mind would say Blazers drag more air than feathers.

    VA,

I have 4" offset feathers, 2" Blazers offset and 3" Duravanes offset on Superslams, they ALL group together even out to 50 yards.

Maybe your buddy can see the arrows with the feathers better because of the size of the fletch. Easier to see might = slower to him.

Or, it's another advantage of feathers.. they give the illusion of being slow, thereby giving your quarry a fatally false sense of security. :D

Yeah, lots of OBX stickers around here. Straight thru the last time I made it in 11 hours. That's been about 10 years ago or more. Since I found it cheaper and more fun in Cancun. :D

Feathers will have more drag in comparable lengths but the difference in your situation is practically non existant.

Sometimes more drag is desired.Shooting SLOW heavy setups is 1 such situation.

My son's arrow required 4 razr's to perform as well as 3,4" feathers. He has low poundage and relatively heavy arrows.

Feathers on light arrows on relatively fast setups will have your group opening up at greater distances.Too much drag and slowing the arrow down too quickly will cause this.

All things are relative but imo, this guy was either imaginig it or he could just see them better due to sunlight or color of fletch or both.

Another theory, due to the naturall helical nature of feathers, maybe more spin was being created, therefore making the feathers more visible in flight.

Tfox, this may be an issue for me though..my arrows are light...but you think at 30 yds it's not an issue? My set up..367 gr arrow for 277 fps ...not really a fast set up though.

I think so too Jeff it's nice to have guys like yourself and Bruce and Tfox and many others to consult about this stuff....Yeh I see where the optical illusion can happen, I see it all the time when my arrow flies in and out of the sun light, makes you think your arrows is doing a loopdie loop!

No,that is not your problem The Razr will not give you too much drag to open the arrow groups up.My arrows are pretty much the same as your but about 10 fps slower and they fly great, even at distance with Razr's.Now,my 4" feathers seem to get a little unstable around 55 yards or so.

But I shoot the 4" feathers...either way, it doesn't seem to be an issue from what you guys are saying...I can assume that my 4" feathers and blazers should fly about the same maybe feathers a tad bit better at least out to 30 yds??
