Along the lines of Buckeye's thread, what concerts have you gone to and which one's were the best? Mine are: 1. Pink Floyd-1975 2. Pink Floyd-1996 3. ELO-1976 4. Fleetwood Mac-1976 5. 1976-Aerosmith 6. Yes-1977 7. Monsters of Rock (Germany) - 1985 8. Grand Funk Railroad-1974 9. Styx-1974 10. ELP-1977
I've been to a lot. Mostly classic rock shows that were past their prime when I saw them. Everything from the Stones, Aerosmith, Elton John....to bands like Goo Goo Dolls, Puddle of Mudd, Nicklelback etc. One of the few perks of working as a DJ for many years.
I'll just name ten which come to mind... GNR - Minneapolis - 1992 Metallica - Fargo - 1992 Rolling Stones - Winnipeg - 1994 Pink Floyd - Minneapolis - 1994 Nirvana - Minneapolis - 1994 Allman Brothers - Chippewa Falls, WI - 1996 Pearl Jam - St Paul - 2003 Widespread Panic - Detroit Lakes, MN - 2005 Dave Matthews - Detroit Lakes - 2009 Kid Rock - Detroit Lakes - 2010
G Love and Special Sauce 96 Athens, GA Lady Antebellum with Darius Rucker and Thompson Square 2012 Nashville, TN Eric Church with Brantley Gilbert 2012 Nashville, TN I'd say the Eric Church Blood, Sweat and Beers tours was awesome And hopefully going to the Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam in September if time allows, will be SEVERAL bands performing

I've been to a ton, country, rock, alternative..... But if you haven't been to a Bruce show, you need to.
When I was a kid, my folks used to take me to Summerfest and ChicagoFest (before Jesse Jackarse shut it down). There were tons of great bands. Huge variety too, from Willie Nelson to Alice Cooper and everyone in between. I went to Blues Fest a couple of times too. Kind of neat. You'd swear the drinking age was 12 and marijuana was perfectly legal there. My first 'going to see a particular band' concert was Black Sabbath in, uh... '82? I'm pretty sure Quiet Riot opened for them. I couldn't list all the bands I've seen whilst I was in High School... lots. Ozzy, Metallica, Judas Priest, Dio, Motely Crue, Damn Yankees, Steve Miller, Kansas... those were some of the bigger names. Saw a bunch of smaller bands like Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer, King Diamond and other thrash/death metal bands. You went to those for a fun night in the crowd, not because they were all that great. Can't really name a best. Ozzy's Bark at the Moon was a crummy album but the stage show was really great. Metallica was good opening band but a boring main act. Probably the most fun I had was at the Damn Yankees/Steve Miller/Kansas concert up at Alpine Valley in WI. Music was good, I was with a big group of friends and watching the drunks try to stagger up the steep sidewalk from the beer garden was entertainment all by itself. I had a '79 Lincoln Continental Town Car so I drove a car load of friends up, and then came home with a different car load of friends. LOL. Got pulled over on the way home too. :D
Love older metal music, but haven't been to a bunch of concerts. First concert will always be the best by far. Clash of the Titans: Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth with Alice in Chains as the opening act. Sadly never had the opportunity to see Metallica, and after the black album lost interest in trying. Megadeth with Korn opening Van Halen with Sammy Hagar, free tickets and a night out. Seen Danzig at a local club, Disturbed stole the show as an up and coming band at the time. Seen a few smaller local shows that bands ended up doing ok. Breaking Benjamims, Seven Dust. I know I've seen others but drawing a blank.
Saw my dad play in a few bars when I was little, but I don't think that really counts as a first. I remember going to Sesame Street Live as a youngster, but I don't know that is a concert. My first real concert was Lollapalooza '96. Metallica, Soundgarden, The Ramones, Rancid and the surprise guest...Waylon Jennings. There were a couple of other bands that were lesser names. Saw Cypress Hill, Kid Rock and Staind at a small festival show near Bloomington. It would have been around 1999. X-Fest 2000. It is a festival show put on by a radio station in Indy. Saw Kottonmouth Kings, POD, Green Day and STP. Green Day was awesome and definitely upstaged the headliner STP. Tre Cool, the drummer from Green Day, lit his drum set on fire and it burnt while Billie Joe played Good Riddance (Time of Your Life). Saw a few others on the main and second stage, but don't remember the names. Been to a few Psychopathic shows, ICP and Twiztid. Saw a JCW show. That was ICP's wrestling association. Most of those were during my college years, 1999-2003. Saw Keller Williams with a buddy in late 2004 or early 2005. Not big on the jam band scene, but he was alright. Big Fest 2005 in Indianapolis. One day neo-hippie festival. Not my cup of tea, but it included Umphrey's McGee, Yonder Mountain String Band, Keller Williams and String Cheese Incident. Somewhere 2005-2006ish I saw Richie Havens at a theater in Bloomington. It was cool to see the guy who opened Woodstock. Saw Roger Waters at Deer Creek (Verizon/Klipsch) in 2006 and it was outstanding. His second set was all of Dark Side of the Moon. Saw Jason Mraz and Gavin Degraw with the wife. That was 2007 or 2008. Saw Primus during May 2010 and that was a great show. Saw Claypool on his first solo tour in 2005, I think. Seen a few bar shows in Bloomington. The Wailers, GZA from Wu-Tang, Damian Marley and Here Come the Mummies. I even saw a satanic, bluegrass band...Hogscraper. It was interesting. I think that's it, but there might be a couple that are escaping me at the moment. Not a concert, but the wife and I saw Cheech and Chong in Indy during the fall of 2008. They were hilarious. Saw Heywood Banks at a club in Bloomington a couple years ago. He was outstanding. ETA - Saw Sam Bush during the summer of 2006 at The Bluebird in Bloomington. He is a very famous mandolin player. It wasn't really up my alley, but a couple of my buddies really like him and I could appreciate his prowess on the mandolin.
I have seen a diverse range of bands Dan fogleberg 1978? I am not sure how or why any of you would remember every concert and the year unless you still have the t-shirts. I have been to too many to ever remember the years but would say that Garth Brooks used to put on a great show and I really enjoyed Elton and Billy Joel when they toured together. Cougar-Mellencamp also did a nice job back in the day. Most fun concerts to this day are still Jimmy Buffet. From what I can remember.....
I have most of the ticket stubs, but I just started in 1996 and thought about every year since then and came up with my list.
I am not a country fan but I would have loved to have gone to a Garth Brooks concert just to see if the hype about his concerts were true. I've only been to 2 concerts and pleading the fifth on who they were. A girl friend made me go to one and the other were free tickets someone won. Never really got into going to concerts. Tim
Garth was very high energy. It was an experience for sure. I went during the tour that he was hooked up to a wire and was swung out over the crowd. Pretty cool night.
Big and Rich (x2) Eric Church Kip Moore Justin Moore Jason Michael Carroll Gloriana Blake Shelton John Michael Montgomery Sawyer Brown Taylor Swift Jarrod Niemann *Travis Tritt *Hunter Hayes Eric Church was by far the best, Taylor Swift was probably the worst. Big and Rich and Jarrod Niemann were great. Gloriana was a ton of fun because I was up against the stage. I saw Blake Shelton back in like 2005 before he was really big, actually got to meet him the day of the concert, too. I have tickets to Hunter Hayes in Sioux Falls and tickets to Travis Tritt in Pickstown, those are coming up in August.
Aaron lewis was awesome. I saw him last month. but I'll start at the beginning and you can see how my taste have changed. I'll rate them as I list them. Breaking Benjamin(7), 12 Stones(6), Switchfoot(5), Journey(1), Akon (free! 8) Lady Antebellum(3), Aaron Lewis(2) and Rock the South with Sara Evans and the Band Perry(4).

That's easy, I remember each concert by where I was in my life. The concerts in 1974 were while I was finishing up high school. the one's 75-76 were when I was stationed in Florida. 77 - Stationed in Texas. 85 - Just before my wife and kids arrived in Germany.... If needed, I could add in where the venue was and who (if anyone) went to the concert with me.
