Friefox both here and at work. To the programmer (and designers), that argument, imho, isn't valid for two reasons: -I still think a LARGE majority of internet users still use IE. -A good developer and designer will try their darnedest to get their site as cross browser compatible as possible. That's just part of the game.
Absolutely, and he will. He doesn't always check the site in IE to make sure it looks the way it should. He's also a huge Linux fan, and thinks Microsoft is the devil. At times, he annoys me. It takes a lot to annoy me.
Drives me nuts, LOL What really pissed me off is when they complain it does not work in IE6, yes people still use IE6. It's like 9 years old, SOB
I use IE. I used Firefox for about a year and messed with Chrome for a while, but still came back to IE.

I am in charge of the program office that buys all the software for the Marine Corps, and soon the Navy and DON...so I have seen all the tricks. ALL the software vendors are the devil - MS, Oracle being two of the worst. They are all like drug dealers, they try and go cheap to get you hooked, then they jack up the prices for support. I wish we could go open source and do our own dev...
Open source is not as cheap as some think, neither is your own developement. I think Brazil went all open source, their support cost are way higher. What I like is a good mix of both.
The software our company develops/delivers is a hosted web based tool. We have recently done a TON of research on this while prioritizing a browser independance project for our roadmap. By far and large, businesses tend to be running IE. The smaller the company, the more likely they are to be using something other than IE. Consumers tend to be using a much wider variety of browser platforms.
Chrome! I have been for a couple years. Some things I have to use IE, but 98% of my surfing is Chrome. Honestly, it is 10X faster than IE on my laptop and pcs. Sal
