hey everyone, im in the search for a new broadhead. i need some suggestions but i already know i want to stay away from mechanicals. i only shoot 55 pounds with a 370 grain arrow so it is still a relatively lighter set up and i dont want to sacrifice penetration and losing deer. so as of now i am mostly thinking about cut-on-contact fixed blade head like they hellrazers or the montecs. but also looking at the thunderheads and slick tricks. please give me any opinions on this BH's and some suggestions on what others are good. and im sorry, this question must get very tiring by now so i very much appreciate you taking the time to answer.

Any of what you listed will work perfectly. Used Thunderheads for years for draw weights from 45-62 lbs. A buddy of mine put the Montecs on his girlfriend's arrows and she's in the 45-50 lb. range. What ever flies the best is what you should use. If you have a buddy or someone that will let you try a couple different heads that would be the way to go to see how well they shoot for you before you buy.

You have stated some good broad heads, the helkrazors and montecs those would be great but I'd also give muzzys a look as well.

Any you mention should do fine. I am partial to Muzzy... of course. Either 3 or 4 blade are both good.

i have used a few different heads as well... G5 STRIKER i used when i first started out and eventually switched to the bass pro brand becuase it was the same thing. i have been using Rage 2 blades since i switched to 125 gr heads and they have done great.

i just got a pack of striker magnums becuase they are 125s so i will test them.out when i run out of rages

I'd say the same. Slick tricks have stronger blades if you think you need them.

VPA's for sure if your thinking COC ...much better quality then montecs ect, easy to resharpen and they take a scary sharpe edge.

I've had good luck with Slick Tricks in the past. I may try something new this year, but we'll see. Lots of solid offerings out there.

I have tried quite a few BH. I would have no problem shooting these:

    QAD Exodus
    Tru-Fire T-1
    NAP Hellrazor

thanks for all the speedy input. i will look at the vpa's. a couple of buddies try new heads every year and have many old heads laying around and i will ask if i can give some a try. maybe also compare the penetration of these different heads out of my set up.

Swhackers for me. Last year was my first year with them. 2 blade, 125 grain. I was very happy with the results.

i think my set up doesnt produce enough KE. i think the website recommends at least 60 ft lbs of KE. i only have about 50 ft lbs of KE and dont want to risk an expandable not opening.

Yes there is one dealer on EBay and couple of dealers that sell online over at AT.

If you want to buy them from the sight just email ray. All the places are the same price as far as I have seen.
