Well as far as getting to 300fps will not happen unless you go light on your arrows. I shot an X-force 7 rated for 342 IBO and I get 308fps out of it. I shoot a lighter arrow at 385 grains and I'm a 29 inch draw. Like everyone said go to a pro shop and see if they can set you up with different bows and give it a try. Speed is not everything it just give you a little more margin for error. I had a Mathews Outback that was a great bow and my hunting arrow only went 265fps and it was rated like 308 IBO, I killed deer with that just as good.
the new 60's is the old 70lb bows. go out and shoot them all.the bow will find you. There are some great pkg bows all ready set up at some great prices. Draw force and draw curve, rollover it will all find you so dont pic one out of a mag go shoot them. some shops have layaway and trade -ins so go get you some. and come back and share your experience with us.
well thos arrows are 10 grains per inch so that would make them 395 grains after the tip, and i shot those out of my nova and will probably stay with them depending on what draw weight i decide on.
well there is only one shop around here that will let you shoot the bows, and they dont carry any of the bows that i like or want and wont order them unless you pay for them.
gota add fletchings insert and nock to the weight i shoot 10.3 gpi 27in arrows that weight around 438
I had my arrows (Easton ACC Pro Hunters) weighed the other day they are 431 total, 29" + nocks and feild tips. I thought they were heavy but I guess they are about average
i just watched a video on youtube a guy chronographed the bow madness at 302 fps with a 65 pound 29 inch draw shooting 327 grain arrow and with a 410 grain arrow it drops to 268 fps
well the first deer i killed was at 48 yards according to the rangfinder after the shot, but most of the ones i missed were at 30 to 35 of course over the past two or three years i have only went bow hunting once or twice a year and didnt practice like i used to thats why im going to buy a bow so early in the years so i have time to set it up the way i want and fix my arrows the way i want and practice practice practice.
That's not really a question any of us can answer for you... go to a shop and shoot them at different draw weights. You may be amazed at how a newer bow will draw at a heavier draw weight.
sorry to here this,no bass pro or cabela's there they both have shooting range as does gander mnt maybe somewhere local? I would not buy a bow i did not shoot and a lot more then once.
i tried to shoot some at the local gander mountain and the guy runing the archery counter told me i had to buy it first and i told them that the store was a joke and i would not be back. i am supposed to be going to cabelas in a week or two. The closest cabelas is almost 5 hours away.
And to everyone else who helped on this subject thank you, and i will still read and reply to any comments
My arrows are 9.9 gpi and they are 441ish with a wrap. I always add an est 50-55 grains for fletch/glue/insert. I figured you were 450 or so. If you get near a grainscale, I'd be curious.
