Saw this mentioned in another thread and I'm interested in what everyone is reading or any recommended books. I'm currently reading We Were Soldiers Once...and Young by Joe Galloway and Col. Hal Moore. I'll finish it up soon and I'm looking for ideas on what's next. If you've seen the movie, read the book. Fascinating.

    Great thread.

I just finished “The boys in the boat” by Daniel James Brown. I really enjoyed it.

“While time remains” by Yeonmi Park also really good.

I’m reading “The Sentinel”,one of Lee Childs Reacher novels, currently.
I’ll read any new John Sandford books as they come out. Both the Davenport and the Virgil Flowers series.
I also like the CJ Box Joe Pickett books by CJ Box as they come out.
Read most all of the Stephen Hunter books in the Bob Lee Swaggert series.
Also all the Corcoran O’Conner series by William Kent Krueger.
I haven’t read them all but like the Tom Clancy novels as well.

Any new ones in these series will keep me reading anytime I find the time.

Read a couple a few years back but didn’t enjoy them enough to continue. Can’t say I’m lacking new material with the authors I follow. I’ll try someone new every once in a while though.

I'm currently reading Burner by Mark Greaney, which is the 12th(?) book in the Gray Man series. They turned the original book into an Amazon movie which departed from the book storyline pretty far but was still pretty decent on its own. I didn't know how I would feel about some of the changes, but they made them work.

When I'm done with this I have In The Blood by Jack Carr on deck. That's the 6th book in his series, which was also turned into an Amazon show - The Terminal List. That one stuck much closer to the book storyline and feeling, and I loved it. Can't wait for the next season.

After these, I have two recommendations from a client that I will be checking out. False Witness by Karin Slaughter and Billy Summers by Stephen King. I read a lot of King books when I was in high school and just after, but I haven't read much of his stuff in quite some time. The last ones I read were the Gunslinger series, and that was probably a decade ago. I also refused to watch the movie as I heard terrible things about it. Which is a real shame because Roland Deschain was one of the coolest characters in any book series I've ever read.

I am anxiously awaiting the last few books in the Dresden Files series with #18 hopefully coming out soon??

I may pick up a copy of Jim Shockey's recently release book "Call Me Hunter" just for the heck of it.

I'm terrible with starting and stopping books. I've been watching a lot of history videos lately. My wife is an extremely busy person but my gosh she reads! I was working on my bathroom and she has 3 books in there by the bath. Leadership books. I'm pathetic compared to her. Lol

I highly recommend Tribe by Sebastian junger. Especially for military veterans.

any of you guys use audio book apps? I fly once or twice a month for work and have destroyed a couple books going in and out of pack back etc. Plus I'd rather close my eyes and relax on a fight while listening to a book.

I was using LibriVox, but they are all old "public domain" titles, listened to Count of Monte Cristo on my last trip and a bunch of Edgar Allen Poe poetry. The readers are all volunteers and the audio quality is, well you can imagine.

Been re-reading Band of brothers by Stephen Ambrose. Based on Easy Co like the HBO series.

After will read Generation Kill next. Have read it before too but it's been several years. Don't read a whole lot but usually stick to military stuff when do

This is on my short list of books to read before the fall. I've heard nothing but good things about it.

As for audio books - I keep thinking about it, but I feel like I'm cheating, so I just can't get myself to do it.
