It's not just me, they've got a reputation for listing high-dollar items at really good prices, then going on 'secret backorder' which they don't tell you about until you check, then they string you along for awhile...until you get sick of it and cancel your order or finally get it after you wanted/needed it. They got me on a Fast Eddie sight a few years back. I dunno...it was during Covid so that might have had something to do with it on my order. That said, they do have good sales and if you're not in a hurry then pinch that penny!
If you do go Vortex route, I would buck up a little more and go with at least the vipers over the diamondbacks. I have both. And while the diamondbacks are great, the vipers have a bit better light transmission, clarity, and the biggest thing for me they don't fog up nearly as much. I do have the first generation diamondbacks though, so unless they did something to improve it, they fog up very easily.
I decided to use some points to get my son his own pair. So I ordered vortex bantam youth set for him and vortex crossfire hd 10x50 for me. Not really the pair I would have liked but would rather him enjoy his own pair. Also ordered an ol hank buck decoy. Never used a decoy deer hunting but we are going to have some fun with it. Appreciate the advice though on the binos.
The Mrs and I have talked about getting the bantoms for my 6 year old. Give a review once you get them.
You didnt go wrong! If you do have a fog problem i believe there is a spray you can buy that helps with it. I still use my diamondbacks even though they do it so its not a deL breaker
Just opened the box to step outside and take a look through. So far so good. Day and night difference for him to have a light pair to fit his hands. He likes them.
The vipers go on sale at cabelas often for around $300. I have a pair of 10x42 and a pair of zen ray 8x43
