What arrows do you guys have best luck on penetration, speed, and toughness on whitails. Im also trying to find the best arrows to shoot out of a Hoyt defiant at 65lb
Bear Lights OUT. single cam. 60# draw at 29.5" 80% let off I shoot GoldTip 340s with 100 gn NAP Spitfires, about 415 grains total. Breaks ribs and complete pass through sat out to 35 yds, but most of my shots have been within 20 yds. The only problem I've ever had was a broad head frozen shut. Other than that, well placed shots are always pass through or embedded in bone.
A straight, heavy one that when fully assembled (BH, inserts, fletching, nock) has a FOC of at minimum of 13%
I also shoot Easton Axis 340's with a 65 pound setup. As Ty mentioned: a straight and heavy arrow will be good for penetration. There are many great products out there to choose from. I have shot Goldtip, Carbon Express, and Easton. Easton is my favorite. I like a smaller diameter arrow but that is my preference.
I switched to Axis 300 this year and love them, 10.7gpi, small diameter shaft and claimed to be made in the U.S.A.
Easton Axis w/ 50 gr brass insert Flexfletch FFP-360 vanes QAD Exodus BH Consistent/durable/quiet on the rest AND all made in the USA.
Carbon Express piledrivers 11.3 grains per inch with 72 pound DW 28.5" draw length that will do. Would be a perfect set up if Muzzy made the hybrid in 125 grain but the piledrivers are weight forward like flyline so it all works out.
Easton Axis 340's or Easton ACC's 340's from a 60# - 28.5" draw. 100 grain fixed broadhead. Deadly combination.
I've been shooting Carbon Express Maxima Hunters but I just picked up some Bloodsports on sale today. I'm looking forward to giving them a try. Blessings..........Pastorjim Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
Piledriver PTXs at the moment. I got a deal on a dozen Easton Axis that I will use after I break/lose all the PTXs. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Carbon express reds. 350 G5 Montec 3 pass throughs last fall. Similar setup to yours. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Another satisfied Easton Axis shooter here. 60# Prime Rival with 29" DL, shooting 340 Axis and 100gr NAP Spitfires or Shuttle-T's. Early this winter I found a super deal on some older Easton Excel 340's and just cut them down with new inserts for backyard shooting. For a mid-range shaft, they are straight as a string and very accurate as well. Over the years I have shot CE's and GT's, but always gravitate back to Eastons.
Easton HEXX with brass inserts. Plenty there to punch through whitetail because there is for elk... Bloodlines work as well.
I've used the beman bone collectors and they are my favorite, but I usually just use the Scheels Rogue arrows for target and when I can't find the bone collectors on sale used. The last set of rogues I had made I had 100 grain brass inserts put in instead of the aluminum inserts that come with them. Shooting 350 spined arrows they were coming in at 452 grains.
Used to shoot Axis 340's in camo but Easton quit making them. They gave the the perfect spine /weight combination. Now I shoot Carbon Express Mayhem Hunters and WOW.....what an improvement over the Axis.
