New to this forum guys...I shoot a Parker Buck Hunter and have been using the Octange Hostage rest for the past 3 years. When I got the bow the shop owner gave me a couple sets of replacement brushes. Well needless to say they are all burnt up. Love the rest hate the brushes and replacements are impossible to find on the shelf.

That being said what is the best rest for the $$. I am by no means in the market for a $100 rest, just need a quality rest that isn't going to burn up on me.

If you're willing to go up on that price a little, the vaportrail limbdriver is almost impossible to beat as far as dropaways go. And welcome to the forum.

Depends on your arrow I suppose. With blazer style vanes I like a whisker bisquit. I can nock an arrow and not worry about it falling off the rest. In interest of full disclosure this is the only kind of rest I've ever used. hahaha. That's why I was drawn to the thread. Can't wait to see what the Ol' guys have to say! No offense you 45+ers, for the most part you guys know your crap! Young guys like myself can learn alot from you Ol' guys if we'd just get over wanting to do things our own way and listen! So with that being said, bring on the knowledge o wise ones.

If I were going to buy a new one today I'd be a Ripcord Code Red or a QAD Ultra Rest. I shoot an original Ripcord now (slightly modified).

If you want a drop away you may have to go up a little on price but well worth it but some of the cheaper ones pounce back n hit the arrow. I shoot a QAD and love it zero problems with contact easy set up & has a top bar for containment.

WOW...that is all I can say about the service i just got at Scheel's...We tried 3 different rests on my bow. No questions asked they tuned the bow each time and let me shoot. Tried a WB, QAD Ultra rest and a NAP Apache...Went with the apache. Quickly learned that my hostage was a POS lol. 4.8/5 rating on cabelas site with 21 reviews. I know the store is still trying to make a good impression since it has only been open for a couple of months, but seriously they gave my kids game tokens and tokens to ride the full size ferris wheel inside the place.

As far as performance goes...After 50 shots I would say I am .5'' tighter groups at 30 yards and don't have any eratic arrows that I used to have every once in a while with the hostage

I use the QAD and love it since the change from a whisker biscuit. It will hold your arrow as still as the wb and doesn't effect the arrow the way a WB does. If you torque your bow in any way or have any bad form it will act on your arrow since it touches your arrow the whole way down the shaft and fletching. Any movement of the bow moves the rest which acts on the arrow. I love the QAD .
