Probably the same as i always do in Ohio. Maybe hunt with Scott or Fran if there up to it. Id LOVE to go hunt with Dubbs if i could.
Same here I plan to learn to shoot a recurve and take it out on pigs this offseason and if Im comfortable move to whitetails. Also plan to learn how to call my own turkeys. I feel guilty depending on my brother in law every year.
I don't see me doing anything out of the ordinary next year. Being a student and working part-time doesn't really allow me the finances to afford out-of-state hunts. That being said, at some point in my future, I'd like to: - Get more into turkey hunting - Kill a muley - Kill a black bear - Kill an elk - Kill some hogs Those are on my list, just don't know when or how I'll get it done! lol I'm glad I have some great whitetail hunting to keep me busy!
Shultzy...I probably should clarify. The tags I'm applying for are all tough to get so I may not even get one. I'd love to draw a sheep tag that's my ultimate hunt. If I don't, I'll find a decent elk hunt somewhere with a landowner tag or an OTC tag. I've got a spot to hunt black bear in alberta in May, but was waiting to see if I had something lined up before dropping the money on that one.
Once I get the Okay from the land owner I am without a doubt going to host Rocky to chase some mule deer around, and hopefully learn some knowledge from him on my own land. After that I'm hoping to head up to see him. From what you have told me it is WELL worth the trip. Will I love the attitude in here with the "double dog dare". Sometimes all we need is a little kick in the butt to pursue our own dreams.
I'm going to get more aggressive with my scouting efforts. It seems that I've been lulled into "knowing the property I hunt and where the bucks will be" too much and I think, in fact I know, I'm missing things. A lot of the reason I've not scouted harder is because of the fear of pushing a deer out of an area, etc. It hasn't paid off very well so far. My go to set seems to have burned out the last few years. I'm going to throw more caution to the wind and start burning up more boot leather this off season. Oh yeah, I'm making my first official trip to Montana for a little deer hunt next fall. ;-)
Kind of a redundant question coming from Will because he knows we're going to Australia together to fling sticks at big, ornery critters. Which really isn't anything new for me except for doing it in a different country with people that talk funny and in shorts! The trip's definitely happening! My only dilemma is whether to get 80 lb. limbs or not...?
Be ready to pay out of your nose for It too. I've elk hunted In Montana 5 different years and loved It but don't think I'll be going out there again after the license Increase. With the passage of voter Initiative 161 in November 2010, the cost for Montana's 2011 Nonresident Big Game and Deer Combination licenses will increase. Under the new voter-approved law, the following changes go into effect March 1, 2011: Outfitter Sponsored Variable Priced licenses, also known as the Outfitter Guaranteed licenses are no longer available. Provides 17,000 Big Game Combination license and 4,600 Deer Combination licenses to nonresidents via a general application process. Increases the Nonresident Big Game Combination license fee from $643 to $912; and increases the Nonresident Deer Combination license fee from $328 to $542. Nonresident Elk Combination license sells for $812. Proceeds from the sale of these licenses are to fund wildlife habitat conservation and public hunting access programs. The fee increases only apply to Nonresident Combination licenses. Deer B, Elk B, and Antelope licenses are not affected.
I won't be planning any hunting trips for 2011, but me and my best friend are planning on going to Lake Fork in Texas sometime in April, for about 4 days of bass fishing
Brett, yes right now I have 3 DPOP tags in the truck with unlimited available, cost free. With them you can kill unlimited deer per day. In the parks I'm hunting you have to kill 3 does before you can kill a buck. BTW, we can still kill bucks until the end of February. After that it's just does until October again.
Cool Rob. This is a good time to be hunting in PW county then man. One could really stock up their freezers over the course of the year and save a ton of money on meat. You being a butcher I just bet you can cut up some sweet pieces of meat!
Good man. I donated a deer to the Hunters for the Hungry this year in the form of money. I had gotten away from doing that for years, but not again.
Wow , some of you guys are really going for it , I hope everybody reaches their goals and has a great 2011 season . Myself , I'm having to skipping America this year , work is a bit rough at the moment and I'm having to put extra hours in to make up the short fall . So this year I'm hunting the UK , I'm hoping for a Red Deer and a Roe Deer with Rifle and lots of small game with My Air Gun . I'll be hoping to get preferance points for a certain area Will , for my 2012 Elk and I'm hoping some of the Guys off here will be Joining Me
You guys are warming my soul with all the planned adventures. I have some late work to do tonight (so I can take the hunts I do), but when I get home, I want to address some of the issues people have brought up. This is what it's all about guys! There is no need to be millionaires if we can help each other out. When you peel the onion, isn't "sharing" right there at the core of hunting?
I'd love to do an antelope hunt.. Don't know if that'll happen or not though. Definitely going to be hunting Illinois for whitetails though. That's really the only thing different from this year for me.
If The hunt with Jayb22 goes through, I'll be glued to his back side as a fletching is to an arrow, if not then I'll try to hook up with that guy we all call Will. A fella with a heart as big as the Sun, other than that, I'll try to anchor a buck over 160 this year. Dang new jobs sure are a hassle when it comes to holidays, 2 weeks only and I have to allow some for my Mulie hunt. Rocky
