I mean, what are you going to do that is dramatically different from last year? I am the consumate proponent of "stepping out beyond that which is familair". So tell us, what are you going to do in 2011? Same old, same old doesn't interest me....

Matt (bz_711) and Steve (Schultzy), antelope in Wyoming? I dog dare you!

    Tembry, New Zealand?

    Sooner, elk?

Want it and make it happen! Leave the dreaming for those who sleep!

    Fire away!

As for me, I'm doing my best to get Kodiakarcher to Australia for scrub bulls and water buffalo. Hopefully, we'll come across a few other feral species...

Has anyone thought about hunting Desert Mule Deer or Coues Deer? Bear?

Remember how you felt when you came home with your elk Greg? Waid? Do something different again! I double dog dare you!

Posts what you're thinking. Lets see if we can help each other make it happen!

    I'm coming West.

Which weapon do I need to pack? I don't really even care what we hunt.

Let me know, soon. I need to ask for the time off!....lol

I'm spot/stalk hunting hogs with the recurve in May with John Dill (Anawakee Archery). Looking forward to that.

Talk to me, Wilbur. Let's do an antelope ML hunt. You can shoot left handed, if you're itchin' to do something different.

An out of state public land DIY whitetail hunt with some guys from on here would be just awesome. I need a change of scenery as I have been basically hunting the same general spot for 10 years.

For some reason I have a desire to kill a whitetail from the ground, with a recurve. I will do it.

I also have some weird desire to kill a deer in a swamp. Call me weird.

Hit a deer I'm shooting at. I've done this in the past, and the results are much better than missing.

Nothing too drastic for this coming year. I am hoping and praying that I will gain access to an incredible piece of property just down the road from my house in Virginia. The topography and terrain would remind one of Iowa and the piece hasn't been hunted in 15 years.

Being able to hunt that piece would be incredbile and take some much needed pressure off my family's hunting piece.

I think I might head up North and visit with Rocky. It's tough convincing the girlfriend that I need more hunting time away from home, but oh well. She'll have to love me for who I am. haha.

I've never bugled at a elk before, or done a elk hunt by myself, and I think I might try doing that this year. Ever since having a grizzly bear walk in to within 20 yards of me, my bro and my dad when I was 8 I've had a hard time being in the mountains by myself in the dark away from camp. It's sad to say at 27 that it still scares me, but hey, it does so if I do get out and do the hunt by myself it will be a big scary ordeal for me. The only elk call I can make sound good is a cow call so I will need lots of practice.

    edit:
I'm also thinking about going around and asking for permission on some new land. I've luckily never had to do that as my gf's family has been farming in the area for a long time and have some really good lease land for their cows that I get to hunt, also her uncle bought the mule deer land I hunt on the same year I started dating her. But my one piece of whitetail heaven is getting developed very quickly so I'll need to WT land.

Unless I win lotto or something, I don't think I'll be doing any out-state-hunting.

One thing I've been thinking about is just hunting 'deer' and not passing up deer under 130" anymore.
I passed up bunches of smaller bucks and does trying to shoot a trophy.... and then when I do, the damn thing is lost to the river which kills me. (every night when I try to go to sleep, i think about that stupid buck... I just wish I could forget about it) Trying to find another buck is nothing but stressful too.

Deer hunting was more fun when I didn't care at all about antlers. :(

I can't wait to get back to shooting fish.

Hmmmm...... I'm going to try turkey hunting, bear hunting, and hopefully moose hunting (pending lottery results) with my bow. If all goes well my dad would like to take me on a hunt somewhere as a graduation present type deal. Should be a great year!

Bowhunt my Butt off!! I Love it!

Where or when I hunt is of no concern as long as I have Bow in hand and tag in pocket.

One of the Best Bowhunters I have ever knew or even met has never hunted outside my home county. He's a Raptor! :)

Last, I will come up and hunt that property. It could be a lot of fun. I don't mind paying for a MD out of state licence to get in 5-7 days of hunting over a couple of months. Sounds like those properties you hunt have a lot of potential, and frankly I need a change of scenery. Lets keep in touch and maybe get in some scouting this spring/summer.

What about the kilt? The kilt, from the ground, with a recurve.

I agree. A general rule of thumb says, people are only half as cool in real life, as they are on the internet...and this still sounds like a good time.
