Yeah, I was thinking that I would probably try and go every other year too. But, the last time that I went was in 2013 and I just can't be doing that. I like being in the mountains too much.
Shooting my bow as much as possible, getting as many pictures as I can on my Trail Cams to try to figure out the deer movement in my new stomping grounds I'll be hunting this season. Also making sure I have all the necessary gear to make me as comfortable as possible when I have the time to make those all days sits in late Oct. into Nov. if I haven't tagged out by then .
Hit my goal today at 125 steps per minute for 30 minutes...just need to find one elk slower than me -Matt "Luck is when preparation meets opportunity" "Eighty percent of success is showing up" "If you want to achieve Excellence, you can get there today. Just finished five mile run to cap off a personal goal of 60 straight days working out and shooting my bow. Bring on the mountains. -Matt "Luck is when preparation meets opportunity" "Eighty percent of success is showing up" "If you want to achieve Excellence, you can get there today. So I finally ended up getting something bigger than a coyote. I was by myself when I shot this buck and he was at the very bottom of a small canyon. Less than a mile from the truck.. but a steep uphill packout. Happily, I was able to call a friend (jmbuckhunter) to help me pack it out. I'm thinking this should be my new game plan. I'll happily hike in, shoot and cut up game if I have people to pack it out. Lol!!!
Thanks Oldcarp! All the big bucks I saw before season went underground or moved over to the impossible canyons. Now I am seriously in the market for a mountain horse. Even though it's been about 15 years since I've ridden a horse. :D
