Everyone always says bowhunting for big bucks is a year round job. What are you doing this time of year to get your buck this fall?

I got my food plots planted the same day I killed my gobbler this spring, April 25th. I just planted my Native Warm Season Grasses in my CRP field this past Monday. It should be an awesome bedding area this fall and for years to come.

Gonna go out tomorrow and clear some shooting lanes for a few new stand sites I plan on using this fall.

Might pick up some fertilizer for the plots to get them going a little quicker.

I think the clover I planted last fall might need a mowing soon also.

Shooting at home, and hoping there are a few left that will make a mistake or too when I get out there this fall. I suppose I'm just old-fashioned or something, but I've just not taken to putting minerals and such out. Am I missing the boat, or am I missing some excellent opportunities that I don't even know about????

Walking, scouting, and studying topo/aerial maps. I then try to bring together all of the information I have acquired to begin making plans on which spots I will hunt at certain times. I set forth with a really tight methodical plan for the first time last year, only hunting certain areas at certain times. Last year was a great year for me in terms of the amount of bucks seen and getting mature bucks within shooting distance. I think I saw 13-15 bucks last year as compared to only 3 in 2007. I also got two mature bucks within shooting range last year(could not close the deal) as compared to 0 in 2007. I must be doing something right as a light bulb has seemingly gone off in my head the last couple of years as to the knowledge and skill I am expressing in the woods. A lot of you guys have pushed me over the edge and have really helped me out more than you can imagine.

This year I am really working on getting some good food plots established. Also I am working on trying to find some serious travel routes the big boys are using!

    Absolutely nothing.

No shooting for another month or so.. no scouting anymore.. nothing.

I'll relax and enjoy my summer with the new pup.. try to pick up a new piece along the way that's closer to home.. and that is all.

I wish everyone the best of opportunities this fall however.. and it starts with work. Good luck.

Food plots are in. Mineral sites are fresh. I did all the walking around in Feb and March. The last thing I have to do is put out the cameras which I'm going to do in June.

I am bowfishing and hiking as I finish up school, then it reverts to only the first two. Throw in some mowing 2-3 days a week and you've got my preperation. :d

I am going to Illinois for a week in november. But at home just the usual trail cameras and trying to see which way the bucks are coming in from to get an idea on their bedding areas.

Same old , same old for me. As soon as I'm done with this bear hunt I'll be back to hiking and filming wildlife. For the most part, I try to stay in shape. The trick to successful hunting in the west is laying down boot leather at altitude.

It's raining hard in Katichan, Alaska...today we gather supplies, tomorrow we kill bear.

I haven't done much, My bow wont be shootable for at least a few weeks. I did replenish and start a new mineral lick, and my cam is out (still waiting on my other one). My hay fields are growing naturally so i dont have to worry about them. Come August/September, ill try and start zoning in on bucks.

Have been scouting some new land and re-cleared some shooting lanes on my existing stands...that's about it.

Nothing much right now. We just cut 200 acres of timber on the north half of the place, so that will definitely change things. I'm gonna go out next weekend and mark a few potential stand sites, hang my water hole sets and just do a little scouting in general.

I did a lot of scouting earlier and now I'm working my butt off so I can afford to take time off in the fall.

Shooting, shooting, and more shooting. Won't go into the woods until August to start poking around.

I'll be shooting 3D as often as possible. Shot a new high score today :d Also, took advantage of turkey season to scout as much as possible. Cams will go out next month, then stands about a month after.

Well here is what I am doing this year.
The Daughter and Son in Law flew in thursday and we picked up the 24' Rental Truck and car hauler, loaded it up thursday afternoon and friday morning. The Wife , Daughter and Son in Law Pulled out heading for Kansas Friday afternoon and arrived in Kansas at new home 2:00 Saturday afternoon.
Wife called today to let me know she has aquired a total of 908 acres of private land for us to hunt and she has only been there one day, 88 of it is right accross the street from the house ( Prime Creek Bottom ).
So for right now I am hunting down 24" + Brown Trout with the fly rod till July when I leave for Kansas and start Glassing for Heavy Bone, till then I'll let the Wife do all the work :nana:
