So I left my roughly 10 year old walmart special pocket knife at a friends house out of state last weekend. I think it's time to finally upgrade to something a bit nicer so I told him to keep it till we get back together next year.

I'm looking to replace with something that's nice and would ideally be a lifetime purchase, so I don't mind spending some $$$ to get something good. I really like the look of damascus steel but have no idea if it's good or not. I'd like to get something made in the USA and wouldn't mind waiting for a custom knife if the price wasn't too bad. Ideally I'd like to spend less than $100 but may spend a bit more if something really catches my eye.

What are you carrying for a daily type of folding pocket knife? Do you like it? Do we have any knife junkies on here that can educate me?

I have probably $1000+ in collectible and custom knives. I carry a $12 mini gerber para frame folding knife. Can't bring myself to use the good ones.

I love knives but don't think I have any real great ones. My most expensive knives are around $70 and most can be bought at the 3 big outdoor shops.

I have a Spyderco Delica 4, with the VG10 steel blade. I love that knife. It holds a nice edge, I have actually shaved my face with it  If I were to buy another knife right now, I would be buying another Spyderco without a doubt.

I carry a Kershaw Scallion. Costs about $32 on Amazon. Great little knife and very quick assisted opening. Kershaw has great customer service too. I sent my old Scallion in to get worked on and they sent me a new knife, awesome!

A few months back, I was carrrying a CRKT Van Hoy. Its a little bigger and the blade is only sharpened on one side (kinda odd I thought). Went back to my smaller Scallion.

A lot of times I also carry my Leatherman Wave in conjunction with whatever pocket knife I have on me. Everyman needs a multi tool. :)

$20 Smith & Wesson flip blade or my front carry Raptor Blade. For those places you can't carry a weapon.

I have several Case knives. My grandfather had a huge collection of them and I have some. They run from the mid thirty dollar range up. They are American Made and stay sharp better than most in the price range. Avoid chromium though as it tends to corrode.

I have Several Case Knives also, IMO you can't get a better pocket knife. The one I am currently carrying is over 50 years old that was given to me by my Grandfather. A trick with the Case knives if you get one with a carbon blade cut a potato in half and stick the blade in for about 24 hours and it will strip the shiny finish off.

I also have a Gerber and it is a nice knife too but not as good as the Case.

I have more knives than I know what to do with. I've carried an assortment over the years, but nothing that ever would have cost more than $20, for the simple reason that I'd hate to lose something expensive and then be ticked about it. I have a Stihl Knive that I picked up over 20 yrs ago at the old "Paul Bunyan Festival" and I've used it for cutting open pop cans, cutting shingles when I did roofing, whittling sticks, and so on, and it still holds a pretty good edge, even though about 10% or more of the blade is now gone from all the abuse I put it through. I paid $5 for it back then, and it's been worth every penny. I also carry a little "leatherman-like" mini tool on my key-chain that I've used thousands of times for everything from cutting wire, to tightening screws, using the pliers to pull something apart, the bottle opener to open a beer, etc.

Me too. I keep the Gerber in my glove box for those odds and ends, just in case jobs, when I may not have or want to use the Case.

I've been looking off and on but haven't bought anything yet. Nothing has jumped out at me yet. I always carry my Diesel, so the need isn't that high.

1 Buck (USA) for the office clothes. 1 Case for the good jeans (church) and 1 Case with hoof pic for home.
1 Buck sheath for the belt on camo.

I have a Cutco lock-back (gift from grand-kids) that I carry sometimes. Man that thing is sharp!

I usually strap on a leatherman when I'm riding with my future son-in-law cause he never carries pliers and we need to fix a fence almost every time we are out.

Spyderco for me too. I have a zdp 189 endura 4 for my edc. I rarely have to sharpen it even though I use it everyday. Best folding knife I have ever owned.

Thanks for the info guys. I ordered a Magnum Duke today with a Damascus blade on it. I was looking for a gentlemans type of pocket knife that wasn't so expensive that I was afraid to actually use it. I think this one looks great and it has good reviews too. It was REALLY inexpensive based on what I was looking for, so even if it turns out to be junk I'm not into it with too much $$$.
