I suppose I know what these two doe are doing? Evidence for a late rut in PA. Notice the date on the two videos and the maturity of both doe. If they are in the second round of estrus, why were they not bred already? I have picture proof of several mature bucks in the area along with many other younger bucks. Majority of the buck movement was at night?[IMG https://www.dropbox.com/s/yijrjo0bj5pqlax/EK000172.AVI /IMG][IMG https://www.dropbox.com/s/k223zi28l9kikdg/EK000168.AVI /IMG] hopefully you will be able to watch the videos Archery, Sport for Life!!
Was out bowhunting this afternoon (NE PA) and watched a button buck try to mount a mature doe several times. Not sure if he was just feeling frisky or if she was in estrous??
It would actually be the 3rd rut. Happens every 28 days. This time around is usually some of the fawns coming into estrus for their first time.
^^Yep, this is when some fawns are bred with for the first time and you end up with fawns born very late the next year. I recall another thread asking about pictures they had of young fawns in August/September, and this is how.
The two doe in these videos on my game cameras are very big and mature does still not bred. Seems a little strange that no buck came after them or came to the spot they were leaving their scent. Sorry about the videos, if anyone can tell me how to post video without having to download it, I will put them on for you to see. Archery, Sport for Life!!
Late fawns are also being born to mature doe. Seems the rut is off from years ago. Just an observation from 30+ years of hunting deer. Archery, Sport for Life!!
^^Yes, that is the one I was referring to, and yes, that picture would indicate being bred in March or April since deer have a 5-6 month gestation period but the same general concept I was explaining.
