what goal or goals have you set for you hunting career? i mean things that would truly be the top of your hunting totem pole so to speak. i have 3.
    1. kill a symetrical buck that breaches the 10 point barrier
    2. kill a drop tine buck. preferably symetrical but doesnt matter as long as has drop tine.
    3. kill a massive non typical.

    whats your goals

    1. To kill a 200 inch buck.
    2. Take a a trophy (135ish or better) every season.
    3. Do my part to manage does. I always try to take the legal limit.
    4. Take a Grizzly.
    5. Take a polar Bear.
    6. Take a KY Elk

The 200 incher is most def the most daunting task. I know that's a little out there, but it's one of my goals.
This will be an interesting thread.

takin my oldest to the stand this year (he's 8 in Feb.) not likely i'll let him use a bow even though he can pull back his at 40lbs, but i'll let him have at it with the 243 he shoots... after that i'm going to bring the little guy to watch deer if I have time... at the very least, grampa will... only 2.5 wks will my season starts...

    In no particular order.

-To author a book on whitetail hunting.

-Teach my future children how to hunt.

-Get involved in make a wish foundation, and take others into the woods. Inner city youth would be my choice.

    -Own land.

-To learn MORE and MORE.. and take on new challenges in the woods everyday that I can. To not be complacent with my skills as an archery deer hunter. To think "outside the box".. and hunt whitetail rather than wait for whitetail.

-To look back oneday.. and smile at it all. Knowing that I did it my way.

That last one's kinda cheesy I know.. but what of it.:hater:

I'd like to think so. So far I've taken 2 P&Y animals with It and I've been close on getting a handful of other ones but In most cases as usual hunting with a Traditional bow they were a tad out of range. Here's the 2 P&Y animals I've gotten so far, they are also the only P&Y animals I've ever gotten.

My bear I shot back In 2000. He dressed out at 325lbs and scored out 20 5/16" P&Y. B&C Is 21", I wasn't to far off. I hope to get there and I believe It's very doable!

My buck I shot In 2007. He dressed out at 210lbs and scored 140 1/8" P&Y. This will be one tough task no doubt to get a B&C whitetail with a recurve.

Im young and ambitious, and my goals are steep, though they certainly aren't limited to whitetails only.

Obviously, most these are with Archery tackle

    1. NA Deer Slam on Bucks within 6 years (Whitetail, Sitka Blacktail, Columbian Blacktail, Coues, and Mulies) 1/5 there.. More this fall

This goal alone is my main fixation, I am going to exert everything within my power to accomplish this. Even if it takes longer, I WILL get it done.

    2. Grand Slam on Turkey (Bow or Shotgun, just want to get my first grand slam down)1/4 there.. should be more this spring
    3. Go Bear hunting in MN with Kyle
    4. Kill a P&Y whitetail next year on my own scouted lands
    5. Kill a GA Gator from my boat DIY style
    6. Go predator calling for wolves up north (gun)

Eventually venturing into other big game, Elk, Bou, Moose, Cougar, Bears, Mtn Goats...the only animals that don't currently make the list right now are the NA Sheep...maybe its just the thought of 20k+ hunts for each species in a lot of cases, but I don't have much of a desire for them right now. Eventually I hope to accomplish the NA Super Slam, but that goal may be unnatainable depending on how my life pans out.

Id also like to hunt Australian Water Buffalo and a New Zealand safari both with my bow, Africa ranks below all of these above...although I'd love to go there as well.

Well, shooting a 135" every year is a tough task around here as well. LOL in my post I made it sound like...no prob lol. I just think that is much more plausible than taking a 200 incher. But both tasks will be very difficult for any "do it yourselfers".

Damn, shultzy. I've never bear hunted, but that thing looks huge. That's a great buck also, but I can't get over that bear.

    1. I'd like to shoot a 200" buck. I know this will be very difficult, but being in IL and seeing my dad harvest a buck that score 192" a couple years ago, I think it's possible.

    2. I'd like to eventually own some of the adjoining land that surrounds ours so I can successfully start to manage the deer herd by letting the smaller bucks grow to be 3.5 years old before being harvested. The does also need thinned out, but it doesn't seem as though neighboring hunters take many.

    3. I'd like to expand the game that I hunt. I currently only hunt deer and turkey. I'd like to go on a bear hunt and elk hunt something in my lifetime.

    4. Once I settle down and have a family, I'd like to introduce my kids to the sport of hunting so that I can have someone to share it with like I do with my Dad now.

This is all I can really think of right now. There are so many things I'd like to do, and I guess I still have a lot of years left to do them. I'd also really like to get involved with conservation whether it be through Whitetails Unlimited or the DNR itself.

To always have more fun "next" year than I did "this" year.

    Hope that makes sense.

Efficiently manage my farm such that I can harvest P&Y deer on a yearly basis...long way to go, but we're beginning to see some progress I believe.

Open up my own Arhcery Pro SHop with an inside 3d Range with a second story shooting platform for angled shots, indoor 20 yd range for just target shooting, outside range, outside 3d range, outside 3d range with adjustable elevated platforms.

Of course it would be a completey stocked archery shop with a couple of pro staffers.

Where the "hunting career" would come into place would be an after school shooting school in my shop focusing on bowhunting, conservation, ethics, the entire 9 yds. At the end of the entire training, maybe 3 or more training schools, I would like to have landowners, hunting clubs, yada yada with mentors be able to take these kids under their wings and take them hunting and get these kids involved. Our urban kids need something to get them out of the lives they are having to lead and into something that could change their lives.
