So as not to highjack Josh's thread ..... In NY - 1 antler at least 3" In PA 1B - 4 points, one side PA 3B - 3 points one side you?
Texas is slowly increasing the number of counties that have an antler restriction of 13" min spread and I think a minimum of a six point (could be 8pt not 100% sure). But none in the counties I hunt in. Personally, I would welcome it, especially as long as they keep us at 1 buck/county bag limits.
Tony - Where in 3B are you hunting? That's where my camp is.......... 3 points to a side where I hunt in PA. Jaws camp in NY is self imposed AR, got to be 2.5 y/o and 6 points or better. With that said, both Jaws and I have passed a LOT of legal bucks in both spots over the years.
MO - 4 points on one side. My private property- 130" minimum and you must shoot a doe before you can shoot a buck.
In Texas, it depends whether it is "hardened" or still covered with hair/fur. Hardened- buck tag Hair/fur-antlerless Most fall under the category of antlerless.
Ohio.... Antlered deer are deer with antlers 3 inches or longer in length; antlerless deer include deer without antlers and deer with antlers less than 3 inches in length. If it is below 3 inches, we can use an anterless tag on it.
Whoops...I actually meant to post that message in the other AR thread so I deleted while you posted a reply. What I said in my orginal post was "Regarding using spread for AR...some bucks never grow a wide spread...I have one on my wall that's only 15 3/8 inside but grosses 137." There is a picture of the buck in GMMAT's thread " how realistic are your buck expectations" No AR in my area...YET
You guys keep in touch with me for a date/time when your coming down, Rob knows he is always welcome and you are too, so is Andrew. If I'm around when you guys are coming through, I can put you guys up in the mansion, and as Rob knows.........I've got enough room to comfortably hunt quite a few guys. You will drive right by my camp to get to Robs anyhow. Let me know if you you want to do this......... Also, if you guys don't have time to actually hunt, I'd love to meet up for lunch or dinner.
Legally, which I'm not 100% sure, I think the buck has to have at least 1" spikes on it to be classified as a buck. I've never ran into a situation in which I had to check because I would never shoot a deer with only 1" spikes. I've shot a button buck once when I first started hunting around age 10, and that was with a shotgun. Now, I'm much more careful when shooting an animal, and make sure that the deer I'm shooting is a legit doe.
well.....let me thinkYEAH! Matt that would be AWESOME .... I will talk to ole Rob and we can hook something up
