I've heard of people making a vanilla extract spray. Mixing vanilla extract and mineral water. Not sure about ratios or how effective it is because I have yet to try it. I plan on finding a recipe for this and trying it out during early season this coming season.

No can, spray, lure or "trick" will bring deer in like having attractive habitat for them. That can be bedding areas, good food sources tucked into cover in the shape of a couple mature oaks, persimmon trees or apple trees. Could be a micro food plot right near bedding with plenty of cover that a mature buck may visit prior to heading to feed or back to bed in the morning. It's possible to get lucky and have a mature buck make a mistake either due to horniness or a mis-time stroke of stupid that comes over him...but to consistently up your odds to harvest mature bucks no bottled, hung up or store bought "trick" is gonna do it.

Best "tricks" of the trade are a chainsaw, hack saw, shovel and a WHOLE HEAPING AMOUNT OF elbow grease. :D

I know this^^^^. I was thinking more along the lines of a cover scent spray that can aid in attracting deer by peeking their curiosity is what I'm going for.

Thanks for the tips though tynimiller.

If it was that easy we'd all have "Hunting Shows" on The Outdoor Channel.

Hardwork and elbow grease! With a big dose of LUCK thrown in for good measure.

Check your local laws before you try this because it's illegal as baiting here but I'm told a bloody tampon will bring them running during and around rut. I use tinks doe estrus sticks through rut and acorn scent during late season. Both as a lure and cover scent.

WOW! Thats desperation... and disgusting. I have however been known to use unscented tampons soaked with doe in heat as a drag going to stand and then hang it from a branch nearby.

I've heard of but never tried the vanilla thing. Also heard of but never tried licorice. I'm not one to spray much stuff around other than some doe pee if the wind starts shifting.

My dad has been using unscented tampons for his drag rags.

I have considered planting some muscadine vines and a couple fruit trees.
