What apple trees would be the best for the high yields? I’m not looking for trees to pick apples from; I just want to get some out that will be good food for deer.
    Thanks

A well tended tree produces the best. :)

Look at ripening dates. If you want a tree for deer during or close to an open hunting season that's what's important. Won't do you much good to have an apple tree that's dropped all of it's apples in Early September if your hunting season doesn't open until October.

Thanks, I’ll look into that. Our season starts 1st weekend of September so it would be great to have a tree that started dropping in September and dropped through September until the white oaks started.

I don't know what kind it is, but there is a lone apple tree in the back of my property that produces these less than crisp and less than tasty green apples every year. They don't fall until after the first hard frost. Deer are at that tree all the time during bow season.
