Just got back to the house after this morning's hunt. It was raining at my house when I left but as soon as I hit our property and the foot of the mountain, here came the snow. By 8am, there was probably close to 4" in the ground. I did see a total of 13 deer, but all by 9:30. Then, the limbs starting coming down everywhere. I had a limb off the tree in front of my, probably in the 4-5" range snap an fall to the ground.

It's snowing really hard now and its not supposed to let up until this evening. Based on what I saw and a couple other hunting partners said, the deer are most likely bedded, riding out the storm now.

I stuck it out until around 11:30 and bailed. It's just not safe being out there. Not to mention the fact that I was getting pretty water logged from the snow by that time. So, I got out of the tree, hung a trailcam and declaring this a football day.

All I want is one nice day in the woods this season.....

Batten down the hatches up there. From what I've seen on the weather channel,it's supposed to be rough.

Its a bright sunny day here in the south. But this weekend is the youth hunt and my boy is hunting with his Gram Pa.So waiting to hear how his morning went. He's hunting with my crossbow instead of his rifle.:D

Just rain here still. Got soaked this morning, but saw plenty of deer (no bucks).

You're a better man than I. We've been getting off and on heavy rain/snow with a nasty NE wind, the worst direction for any of my stands. I'll have to sit this one out. I haven't been seeing a damned thing anyway!

I withstood 4 hours of hell on wheels this morning. By the time I left it was pouring rain. It snowed, sleeted, and rained over the 4 hours I was on stand. I couldn't deal with it anymore and was frozen to the core.

If we could hunt Sundays in PA, tomorrow would be awesome after the storm passes.

I feel for you guys man. I cant believe they can stop you from hunting on Sundays. I dont see any real reason to not allow Sunday hunting.

I hate that we cant hunt sundays here in PA. and its also ironic that every single sunday has been beautiful and 75% of the huntable days are horrible. i just cant wait to get my buck so i can wait it out till late season for a doe and skip all this rain BS. I hunted the storm this morning and had an inch of snow on the ground.. only saw one small buck though and i was reallyanticipating a great morning. beautiful scenery from the stand though.

Hey Rob, I'm about 5 miles down the road from State College.

This morning was strange, but predictable. I knew the snow was coming and was hoping I'd get some hot action before it really started coming down. Well, I got what I wanted. Deer running everywhere for the first 2 or 3 hours, then it fell silent. I'm pretty sure the deer bedded down for the rest of the day riding it out. What was strange was leaving the house in the rain and making it all of about 1/2 mile up the road when it changed to snow at the foot of our mountain.

It sure was dangerous out there the longer the morning went though. Stuff started coming out of the trees and I just wasn't down with that.
