Last night, I was filming a buddy fishing. Great footage, beautiful night, and just an awesome time outdoors. Then it happened. My buddy, caught a 25# turtle, and I left the camera on record to go get the turtle off the line. The turtle snapped at me, and I pulled up. When I did this - the boat shook, and INTO THE DAMN water goes my Canon GL2, 701 fluid head, and tripod. No, I'm not joking. It makes me want to cry thinking about it, but also at the same time I have to just laugh. In other news, I'm looking at purchasing a Sony AX2000. :D
Do a google search on how to dry out electronics. You never know it might still work. That is a bummer.
Yes it was! Went back last night actually using my buddies underwater camera, and found it. 12ft deep. Pulled it in with a rebar hook. At least I saved the fluid head and tripod! The pictures of the retrieval are hilarious.
That would make me sick, literally. Oh well, the AX2000 is an upgrade from the GL2 so maybe it's a blessing in disguise! :D
Unfortunately if you do it long enough something like this happens. That is even worse than watching everything go in slow-motion as your $2500 camera falls 25' to the ground. That's $100 a foot. LOL
Thanks guys - oh it wasn't a "clean" environment after it happened. Funny, now. In other news, I got my Sony AX2000 in last night.
Sux brother, if mine fell in I would be done filming for the year I wouldn't be able to swing another camera til next year. Good luck with the Sony and good filmin this year.
