i just got back from my turkey hunt this weekend, and it was a great weekend. my dad was able to come huntin with me so we partnered up and start chasing thunder buzzards. the first morning, we set up on the edge of a burnt winter rye feild, and i started with some soft feeding calls and purrs on my slate and about 25 maybe 35 yard in the woods we heard a jake try to gooble. 5 mins later we heard them fly down, so i start clucking and the jake goobled again and a hen yelp back i see them start our way. i go to cut again on my slate and i hit a sour note and they started puttin and they were gone. that afternoon, we deside to work the swamp bottom, and right off the bat we jump some does they blew out. so we move deeper in the bottom, the sun start to set when we got another jake to gooble and he starts come hard to us. and a owl started hooting and he shut up and never showed. but we heard some scratching coming up from the other swamp so we sat still and quiet and 4 hens crossed within 10 yards in from of us head towards the jake and the sun was just about to set so i figured to were about to roost so we slip out, and we jump a monster deer im sure it was a buck, hes ass was about 2 feet across and hes tail was about 20 in long and when he blew. you could feel it in your chest. sunday morning we hunt were they roosted, and soon as the sun came up, gooble after gooble and when they flew down the down fell out it rain so hard we headed home . the end, but we had fun gettin close. and huntin with my dad made it 10 times better.
