This story is funny, a little scary, and heart breaking all at the same time.

I will get sack punched twice for this. One for a gun hunting story, and another for no pics. My camera was in my truck, and my cousin had to get the deer to a cooler. Now for the story....

My uncle owns a little over 200 acres next to the families 365 acre farm. This year my younger cousin needed a stand, so I pulled an old ladder stand and hung it for him on the edge of a HUGE thicket. This spot has always been a big buck producer.

Anyways, he hunted it for the gun opener and then again this morning, and never saw a thing. Went to a different stand this afternoon, which left this open. I was taking my dad out to sit on a field edge in his wheel chair, so another cousin slipped into the ladder stand. This is when things get fun!

Right around 4:45 I hear 3 quick shots, and then 1 last one from that thicket. He was up in the stand and saw a HUGE buck errupt down the hill towards him and stop DIRECTLY under him. First shot hits him in the rack and breaks both beams clean off. The deer was stunned and ran right into the ladder, busting it loose from the tree, and then getting tangled it and took off running. He ended up killing him when he bedded down a bit aways from him.

The buck is an absolute beast of a beautiful whitetail. He is a main frame 10 pointer, but his right G-2 is forked down low by the beam, with another 4 inch kicker coming off it, making it a 12 pointer. With amazing mass, and about a 17 inch spread the guy should go in the 160's. He has a lot of the beam above his left brow blown off so it's hard to tell for sure.

I feel sorry for my cousin, as he feels terrible for doing it (and ruining MY stand lol). He is very lucky that he wasn't hurt with the buck knocking the ladder loose though. Funny the way it all played out in the end as we couldn't help but laugh. Talked to another family member who is a taxidermist and he said he would fix it for him.

I'm hoping he still has what he shot off the rack tomorrow when he comes back out. If he does I'll post them up.
