The house was a rockin' and the the noise was loud enough to wake the dead. Had strobes flashing everywhere. That's what I woke up to at 3:30 this morning. The NOAA radio was blaring tornado warnings and severe thunderstorm warnings. No sooner got to the basement and they started cancelling everything. Had 3.25" of rain and 70 mph straight winds. What a year this has been. Checked the trail cams this morning and deer activity ended shortly after midnight. But did get several pictures afterwards of trees rocking in the wind. Fortunately, the only trees that aren't still standing this morning were dead ones I had on the firewood list. It'll be easier to cut them up now.
It got here about 9:30-10:00 this morning. Thanks for sending it our way. My Dishnet guy had to wait for it move through to get up on the roof and move my dish. (My trees had grown too much and were blocking reception.)
It got nasty here yesterday evening. Golf ball, baseball, and softball size hail was north of me about 25 miles from where I live. Holes In houses, barns, cars. What a year It has been here. While I was hauling milk last night a 1/2 mile north of me baseball size hail was coming down. I sure lucked out but a good number of the farmers I pick up milk for didn't. Their crops ruined, houses and barns heavily damaged. It's tough enough these days for these dairy farmers.
From what I here, it's tough these days for dairy farms, with our without storms. My Ag teacher back in high school is the son of the "owner" of the local dairy farm here, Ive helped first hand on the farm and can vouch by saying nothing is physically easy about dairy farming.... or economically anymore.
Wholesale milk prices may be low, but I sure don't see it at the stores here. It's raining again and they're forecasting 2 - 5" by Thursday. I'm sick of the rain as it's causing me to always play catchup, when everyone knows we Iowegians are more mustard kind of people. (stupid humor).
