about 11 years ago my wife's cousin had asked us to watch her 6 month old daughter for the weekend . Being that me and my wife both love kids , we gladly accepted . Little did we know that they weren't going to come back and get her for 3 weeks . The wife and I had decided after the first time that we would never refuse to keep Raven as she was better off spending time with someone that actually wanted her . It finally got to the point that her parents were only spending a couple of days a month with her . At 14 months old with the help of Family Services , we finally took legal guardianship of Raven and her parents all but quit coming to seeing her . Well today we finalized our adoption of Raven we are all extremely excited Can't thank all those that helped enough ; Family Services , our attorney , Ravens attorney , and the court Come December we hope to get to adopt her little brother but this adoption will have to be done through family services . Keeping our fingers crossed
Congratulations and way to step up and do the right thing! Good luck with her brother, I can't imagine they'd want to separate siblings when you're willing to raise both. Shame on the parents, and the world could use a few more like you.
Thanks all !! Even though nothing really changed today as we have considered her our child for over 10 years , it was still exciting for us to finally make it official .
Congratulations to all of you, sounds like Raven is very lucky to have you both. I hope things go well on the second adoption. Best wishes for you all
What you did for that child was one of the greatest things you could have done... You provided her with a stable environment and parents that will love/support her unconditionally... Glad to hear all is finally done and went well... Congratulations
Congrats man! Sounds like she's going to continue to grow up around a family that love her. Good luck with little brother!
