That sucks bud. I wish there was something I could do to help. Nothing worse than having equipment failures during or right before season. Hopefully the shop can get it back up and running soon. Either way, if that string snapped, look where it did. If you have a burr on a cam, it will only do it to the replacement string as well. Of course you might have inadvertently grazed the string with a broadhead. Good luck!
Oh SNAP !!!!! Get it? But glad you are ok those are some scary moments. We had a guy shoot a crossbow with the wrong bolt and it has the wrong no k and it blew up like crazy
well since you didnt do it and no one else did i will take care of it. son of a @$^&*, D@$#, F#%&, piece of S%$^ string. That about cover it? I know you said clean, but there is nothing clean about that. That just hurts me looking at it. Hope you get things fixed and recover quickly.
DOH!! (In my best Homer Simpson voice) You're fortunate it wasn't worse. I know that smart. Get better soon.
Holy wow!! Yeah that's gotta sting a little!! Glad ur ok though and hopefully u can get ur bow sorted out soon dude. Hopefully no damage to it. Good luck Muzzy. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
Dang man, what a bummer. Be glad you didn't lose an eye or something. I ran into a guy in the bowshop that had that happen to him and he ended up with 120 stitches down his forearm.
Ouch, that blows! I'd definately look over the bow with a fine toothed comb after something like that.
Hey, prepare for plug, a guy in my neighborhood owns his own string company, Rodney Ellsworth. He made strings for elite bows until they recently decided to start making their own instead of subcontracting. With the loss of this contract he needs all the work he can get. It's called "Ninja Bowstrings". Who doesn't want to be a ninja? His prices are reasonable, and I bet I can get you a deal and your strings shipped quickly. Let me know if you're interested. Nothing wrong with supporting the little guys... http://www.ninjabowstrings.com/
Glad that you are OK. Now I am really second guessing my string. I have the original string on my Golden Eagle Hawk that is at least 15 years old and probably more. I went in a few years to have it replace and they took a look and it and said it looked fine and I shouldnt worry about it. They couldnt believe how old it was. I used to shoot quite a bit, but over the last 10 years I only shoot to make sure it is right on and I am comfortable in my shot.
I would change the string... Not having my bow 2 weeks before the season is not one of the issues I wanted to be dealing with right now. Plus, I am pretty fortunate that one or more of many possible outcomes did not occur. That broken shaft could have been really nasty.
Oh, and completely forgot to mention (though I meant to), glad to hear you're ok. That could've hit your face/eye. I'm sure you're counting your blessings. Just wanted to mention that I could probably help you string-wise.
Update Okay, I just returned from having my Hoyt checked out. Apparently a bushing on the cam had broken and I honestly had noticed something was different but just thought it was something wrong with my dropaway rest. I did mention it to the Hoyt shop but he didn't think much of it either. I even had my peep rotate a full 180 degrees on me. That definitely should have triggered something in my mind. Looking back... the blame is fully mine. Something was slipping, stretching, changing and I should have insisted on a more thorough inspection by the archery pro. The good news... nothing seems to be broken other than the bushing and that is an easy repair. A full string cable set and I should be golden. Lesson learned and offered to everyone else. If something suddenly feels or sounds different... get it checked by someone qualified. Thanks for all the well wishes... my arm is fine, just a big ugly bruise and a little swelling still but nothing really. I hopefully will drop the bow back off this PM for repair. You guys are the best.
